Miles and Keiko in Rascals

It's been a while since I think we've had this topic.

In Rascals Keiko O'Brien suffers a transporter accident that reverts her into a pre-teen girl. Crusher's observations reveal that in the transporter it removed some element of RNA/our bodies that controls aging and concludes that the victims would simply age normally. By the end of the episode the transporter is used to revert everyone to normal.

But at one point in the episode Keiko O'Brien is talking with her husband, CPO Miles O'Brien, and some marital strife comes into play as Kieko is unsure if she'll make it back to her adult form and wants to know if Miles will continue to be her husband.

This puts Miles in an awkward position.

So what if it were you? What if your adult wife (or husband), a person you've loved for years and are starting a family with was reverted to the body of an 11-13 year old boy/girl. Would you continue to live with this person as your spouse (for the moment we'll assume that there's no legal ramifications for this -as in Trek- people would know and accept that you're "married" to a child only because of an accident that reverted her) would you wait for them to reach an older "more adult" late-teen stage to continue building a family? Or would your marriage to them be over?

(Incidently, I think it would've been interesting if at the end of this episode Ro decided to remain a child so that she can have a more normal adolescence and "restart" her adult life.)

Well, she was apparently emotionally and mentally an adult, so we're only talking about the effect on their physical relationship. I think that if I wanted to be married to the affected person I could put my sexual desires on hold for a few years if that were the appropriate thing to do.

On the topic, predation is about taking advantage of someone emotionally ill-equipped for the happenings or unable to make such a decision for themselves. In this case Keiko was emotionally her adult self.

But with her physical age, she probably would not have the sexual drive of her adult self. So I think they would wait until her body was physically mature enough to match/complement her emotional desires. Not necessarily the age of majority, but certainly older than where it was.

True. If she was indeed prepubescent, then her hormones would be to match regardless of her memories of former encounters.

brings up another possibility. who is to say her hormones affect her the same way they did before this time around? we all know hormones effect feelings and development of a relationship. who is to say that keiko would ever develop sexual feelings towards miles again? or take it one step further, even love him again/anymore?
