The first four books (First, Fourth, Eleventh and Twelfth) came out yesterday and the next four (Second, Seventh, Eighth, and Ninth) come out August 22, according to Radio Times.

I got the first four books at work today. I'm not familiar with the World of Hargreaves -- I don't know if that's a thing on this side of the pond -- but I thought they looked charmingly fun.

Gomez's reading is cute. I love her attempt at a burr on Capaldi's voice.

I think for anyone who grew up over here in the 1970's they're ingrained in the collective conciousness.

Here's an episode of the original animated series that definitely wouldn't get made today...

Oh, man, I had forgotten about the animated series. I don't think I saw that particular episode, but I certainly remember the book it adapted. Yeah, that episode wouldn't be made today (it really does come off as creepy) but I don't think the rest of the series would be as problematic.
