Michael Crichton dies

Michael Crichton has died, after a battle with cancer. He was 66 and will probably be best remembered for Jurassic Park and e.r.

Strange how this news comes in the same when when scientists say they think they have cracked how to clone dead animals, perhaps even extinct ones.
May he rest in peace.

I'm shocked, and really sad. I have several of his novels that I really enjoyed. I'd heard that his last couple of books weren't very good so I skipped them, but I'd been waiting for him to come out with something new... guess that'll never happen.

Anyway, I am very saddened by this news. I haven't enjoy all his books, and thought his political stances on things like Japan (OMG teh Japanez r cuming!) and global warming were just out there, but when I read Jurassic Park, it was as though the book was written just for me, and remains my favourite novel to this day.

I am a big fan of Mr. Crichton. I have read most of his books, including some he wrote to pay his way through college under the name John Lange. I was really shocked at the news of his death. It sounds like he has a book coming out and I think it probably still will. I miss you already Dr. Crichton. It was you who taught me to love reading.

I just read this and it is a devastating blow to the literary world. He was my absolute favorite writer. Jurassic Park is an amazing book, in fact I am naming my soon to be born son after Ian Malcolm from the JP novel. However my favorite novel of all time is "Eater of the Dead."

I'm a big fan of both of his Jurassic Park novels (I think in some ways his Lost World was superior to Spielberg's), and certainly enjoyed E.R. in its earlier seasons. Such a shame.
