Michael B. Jordan as the Man Of Steel?

Henry Cavill is my favorite incarnation of the Man of Steel (even over Christopher Reeve and Dean Cain). That having been said, if we have to recast Superman, I'd be open to seeing what Michael B. Jordan can do with the role, as I'm a big fan of his work on The Wire and Black Panther and Creed.

Not as a reboot because I am tired of those.
But If they do It like with Spider-Man and
miles sure why not.
But first I hope that Cavill will get another change in a MOS 2.

Sure, why not. He'd probably be way better than Routh was

Doing a quick Google images earth there was apparently a black Superman in the comics in some alternate reality type thing

Still though Cavil was great and I hope he hasn't hung up the cape, but I honestly don't know where these Justice League movies can go

I have no problem with Superman being black. Not sure I really see Michael B Jordan as Superman, but then aside from Black Panther (where he was okay) and Not so Fantastic Four (where no one was particularly good), I don't think I've seen him in anything, so I'll keep an open mind for now.
get ready for the clutching of pearls, there were no black people on Krypton...ever!
Well, then we can combat that claim with the fact that Zod was black in the Krypton TV series. And Tim Russ was a Kryptonian councilman in Supergirl.

Why not? Though regardless of actor, they have to come up with a script that isn't cringeworthy. I really liked Man of Steel, though the third act wasn't very good.

I really hope this thread can stay clean.

I'm not a big Superman fan, I loved both Routh and Cavill in the more recent outings. Kinda bummed that it's still unclear if Cavill will or will not be back.

I too loved Cavil and Routh in the two recent movies (Cavil in particular), and I'm fearful that WB execs will use the 'failure' of BvS: Dawn Of Justice and the sad (IMHO) failure of Justice League to reboot Superman with yet another Donnerverse (the Superman movies as influenced by Richard Donner) Superman movie when the last one was a failure (the upcoming TV show with Tyler Hochlin seems to be like the Donnerverse.)

Jordan has said that if chosen to play the first black Superman, he won't play the Kal-El/Clark Kent Superman, but wants to play the black Superman of another alternate Earth, Kal-El/Calvin Ellis, the President Of The United States (much like this guy, James Norcross, was.) Here's who he is:

Superman is a fictional character (so he can be whatever they want, just as they did with Heimdall in Thor) BUT get ready for the clutching of pearls, there were no black people on Krypton...ever!

Oh really?:vulcan:

I've only seen Michael B Jordan in Chronicle, Fantastic Four and Black Panther but I think he'd be really good as Supes. His Chronicle character was a good bloke and kind of reminds me of Clark. They could do a reboot similar to The Batman where it's separate to the DCEU and just go all out with a modern interpretation of classic Superman.

If he plays this Superman from a alternate timeline why not team him up with Cavill and have 2 Superman's in it. Natually you come up with a excuse to have a kickass fight. I do hope if they do this they have some fun with the idea your in a alternate world. Maybe even time period. Maybe he gets to punch Hitler or it is set 50 years in the future. Jason

Into the Super-Verse?

Into the Super-Verse?
That would work. Even would be cool to get a glimpse of what Nick Cages Superman would be like. I was also thinking a little Black Panther were you see a very different looking 2019. Maybe Krypton didn't blow up and helped advance human tech. Jason

I really liked Henry Cavill but thought Justice League turned him into a paper-thin and really bad Christopher Reeve tribute act, with loads of cringy Marvel-style one-liners.

Yes, they can save him with a good movie, but I'm fine with a recasting too. We already had a black Zod in Krypton, so why not Supes?

This would fail on its face because it would be viewed as more "woke" or "PC" casting with one exception. It's a multiverse. There is an Earth where Superman is black. Have a story where Superman ends up on that Earth and has an adventure with his counterpart.

That would not have any controversy because it would not be about casting so that people can get fake outraged.

The multiverse can provide all the same results, without the controversy.

But I wouldn't do this story right away. I would want one movie with Cavill that is actually good.

I like Jordan and I have no problem with a black Superman. But I think it would/will be a shame if both Henry Cavill and Brandon Routh, two excellent choices for the role, end up with their tenures cut short due to bad choices outside of their control. I realise that Cavill has played the part since 2013, but that’s still only in 3 films, with few speaking lines in BvS and a reduced role in JL.

Why? I don't get it. You'd have to change his backstory with the farm, you could do some interesting stuff with his race and being a victim of racism etc.

Maybe that'd be interesting, but then you're making a character who isn't Superman anymore and a story that isn't Superman.
