MI-5/Spooks

My husband & I have just started watching this on DVD thru Netflix. It is a British show about a secret spy organization within the British government. We are really enjoying it. Has anyone seen this? The reason I'm asking is that early in season 1, Tom has to tell his lad
yfriend that he's a spy & she makes hm tell her small daughter cuz she doesn't want her (dau) to be lied to. Now, this kid is only 6 or 7 at most. Why risk telling a liitle girl that you are a spy? I'd think that would be a HUGE security risk!
Scenario: Sitting in school & kids doing the my daddy does this or that & up pipes Maisy with " My mum's boyfriend is a spy!"
Otherwise, I've been reaaly looking forward to each disc as it comes!

Thoughts?

BTW, we've only seen the first 4 eps.

Fantastic show.

Early on, the show's plots are actually believable unlike the terrorist hijinks of 24, the only other show I can personally compare it to. They get a bit more "out there" and implausible as the show goes on, but it's still an entertaining hour of TV and still miles more realistic than 24.

I think the upcoming seventh season is slated to be the last one though. :(

And the spin off, Spooks: Code 9, starts on Sunday. Season 7 of Spooks introduces a new character, Lucas North, played by Richard Armitage (from the new version of Robin Hood) who is rumoured to take over as the lead from Rupert Penry-Jones as the leader. It will be a shame if we only get one season of Lucas as the lead, when we've had four with Penry-Jones and two with Tom.

Code 9 is set in 2013, nine months after a nuclear explosion decimates London during the 2012 Olympics. It sees a new breed of secret agent, younger and more unorthodox, taking over - from regional bases of operations, controlled by a government now based in Manchester (it was filmed in Bradford). The first ten minutes of it are on the BBC website, it's had mixed reports, but I personally like it.

^^ Um, I was trying to avoid spoilers for the OP, who's only seen the first four episodes of the first season. Whoops...!

LOL! That's OK, I read all the spoilers anyway! They don't bother me!
Will Code 9 be on BBC America or is there a delay of some sort before stuff is aired on that? OR maybe I should see if we get BBC on our satelite, duh!

I'm also a fan of the show and had watched most seasons as MI-5 on A&E, but am now able to watch the latest season as Spooks on BBC Canada. It really continues to be a great show, even with the various cast changes. And I haven't really noticed any "out there" plots -- they all seemed pretty reality-based to me.

And I love Miranda Raison's Jo. I still find it hard to believe she played Tallulah on Doctor Who's 3rd season. What a difference!

I don't know if there's been word on international distribution of Code 9, which can be watched without being familiar with the original programme from what I've heard, but I'm assuming they'll wait until seeing how it's fared in the UK first.

I worry about Code 9, because I fear I might compare it to the alt time line created in Doctor Who episode Turn Left, pretty sure Code 9 came first (of the two), but they do seem like similar situations

BUT, does anyone else think it was very inappropriate for him to tell a child he was a spy?
I know, I l know, it is only a TV show, not real life but still...

Maybe he figured that if the child told anyone, they wouldn't believe him, only assume that it was just some kid making up stories (as kids do).

Also, it could also be an example of 'hiding in plain sight': if you, or your kid or whoever, actively reveal that you're a spy, you logically must be lying, since no real spy would ever say that they were one.

I liked Spooks but after a while I got a little tired of it (somewhere in season three). Peter Firth is awesome, though.
