I don't prefer her over Naomi who I adore but I do like her greatly and would have been happy to have her stick around. But a lot of people would freak, having kids in Star Trek having been so disturbing in the past

Also there should have been pets on board. Janeway should have found a dog like animal somewhere and kept it. They could just glue a unicorn horn on some dog's head for the series so we knew it was an alien dog. Or be real cheap and use a Chinese Crested like they did in Two Days, Two Nights on ENT. Though I don't imagine that would be Janeway's kind of dog.
