Well after playing a few hours of this game I gotta say I think this one is gonna be a sleeper hit.
The game has a nice mixture of FPS and stealth.
The developers have said this game is not set in the horror genre but I disagree a bit, if you really immerse yourself in it, some of it can kinda creep you out.
So far I have traveled the Metro rail from city to city only straying above ground a few times where areas of the metro where caved in and what not.
The sound is excellent in the game, you can hear the various creatures that want to snack on you crawling about in the tunnels and air ducts.
The water constantly dripping or wind howling through the tunnels can be a bit unnerving at times as you are straining to hear which direction you are going to be attacked from next but it really sets the atmosphere in the setting you’re in.
For the time you are above ground you have to wear a gas mask, the thing is, your filters only last so long so you need to either hurry your trip or take the time to find more filters, I’m taking the exploring route and finding all types of goodies for my adventures.
One of the things that kinda freaks me out about the gas mask is when your filters run out.
They did an awesome job in making it feel as though you really are wearing a gas mask as your breathing gets really labored when your filters wear out, you are being attacked or running, several times I actually felt like I myself couldn’t breathe.
The mask also builds up condensation when breathing heavy and gets cracks in it when attacks are successful.
All in all I give the game an 8.5/9 out of 10

still not finished STALKER. Not sure if PC or 360 though for when I pick it up.
