Message In A Bottle, A Very Rare Episode!

In_Correct

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
This episode has beautiful music from Paul Baillargeon  and it is set on the Prometheus Class starship. This is my favourite starship! And the acting on this episode was great.

This is the episode where we all found out how much great chemistry Picardo and Andy Dick had together.

It's also the episode where we find out the doctor has a functioning penis.

And you know what they say: Penis of light, shepherds' delight.

Supplemental: The dumb as a buggery Kazon can quickly work out Voyager's alien controls but two Strarfleet holograms can't work out the controls for a new Starfleet ship.

Maybe we were too harsh on the Kazon.

Then I guess the Hirogen, the Ilari, the Voth, the Nyrians, the Devore, Henry Starling and Arturis must have attended those too.

I'm beginning to think Starfleet ships have simplified drawings next to the controls.

To be fair, everyone seemed to be able to go onto any other ship and expertly control it.

Meanwhile, as a Mac user, I feel like a chimp when I sit down at a PC.

I know what you mean! They were hilarious together! Doctor episodes are the best funny episodes. Next to "Tinker Tenor Doctor Spy" (where Robert Picardo showed his actor talent - especially in the last minutes, I laughed so hard last time I saw it), and "Body and Soul" (where Jeri Ryan did an awesome job on imitating the Doc/Bob Picardo) one of the best Doc episodes.

I didn't like Andy Dick as the EMH. I don't see how that's an improvement, honestly. The banter was fun. Those lines: " It's a simulation." "So is my neck, stop it anyway!"

If his neck is only a simulation then how is he feeling the breath?

How is the Mark 2 even producing breath?

For the most part, it was a fun comedic episode.

I watch these episodes where the EMH dominates and I think of Dr. Smith. Picardo's performances can just get a bit OTT for my tastes.

Fine episode, but it probably would be a better episode if they recasted Andy Dick. I'd rather have the Bashir LMH. It would have been a good continuity nod to DS9.

Isn't it possible that he's just yanking Mark II's chain with a harmless bit of exaggeration? Just to help putting his successor in his place with something else he claim superiority with.

The Doc wasn't an ECH at this point, even in his program's eye. Certainly the Mark II didn't have any such capabilities.

He might not have turned out to be. He admitted that he hadn't even been field tested yet.

Love the ep, esp. the interior design of the Prometheus class. Very clean! Would like to have seen more episodes done here!

But - the EMH couldn't recognize a thruster control or a big button that says "ALL STOP", so naturally he does what anyone would do in that situation - create an overload in the nacelle coils to collapse the warp field! Well of course! That's much easier than pushing a basic helm function button!

I am NOT a fan of Andy's but he did all right in this one. Still, like Scott Thompson's and Sara Silverman's adult humor, you just know there's gonna be some Dick jokes.

It isn't that rare. You can get it on several DVD sets and streaming services. I've seen it on tv a bunch of times.

One would assume that the Mark Two wasn't a resounding success since Zimmerman asserts in "Life Line" that he was treated by... "the Mark Three, the Mark Four, not to mention the finest real doctors in Starfleet"

Doesn't sound too good for the Mark Two.

Ah the MkII. Banned after crashing a car into a utility pole and exposing himself to a bunch of Canadians.

Or they have a consumerism impulse that never went away in the 24th century and they update as often as Apple?

So do the people still using the Mark Three feel status anxiety?

When an admiral walks on deck does the captain inwardly cringe at the social embarrassment of having a crappier model?

Everyone just ignores it but there's a genuine tension in the air that seeps deep into their skin and ruins their whole day.

I assume in Star Fleet it's a universal switch to the new model. What people do privately (Do people get EMH's privitaize like at hospitals for example?) might vary.
