Merlin in the autumn

Apologies if this has already been posted. Merlin's being moved forward to the autumn and it's set back up to 13 episodes.

Now, if they can resist having The Smirker in every episode, it should be fun.

Well now her secrets out Morgana doesn't need to smirk with her back to people quite as much anymore!

I'm guessing there'll be no Morgusse this year :(

I don't see any confirmation that it'll show this autumn though?

Fun show. I'm hoping now that they've moved the plot forward minutely they'll continue with it.

Its a nice little show, buts its a bit repetitive with everything constantly returning to the status quo.

I don't know, but perhaps BBC America will show it at the same time as it seems to be doing with Doctor Who.

This is good news. Being both a Doctor Who fan and a Merlin fan I was saddened that Merlin was getting the short end of the stick and being pushed to 2012 because of the split season on Who. I don't see why they can't be on around the same time, but maybe the BBC doesn't want to have more than one SF/F series going at once.

The next comment is based on the fact that I haven't been able to see Series 3 yet (it aired here in Canada earlier this year, as I found out AFTER it had finished showing :scream: - for some reason I thought the broadcasts were of Series 2 :scream: :scream: - so I'm waiting on the DVD), so certain plotlines I don't know about yet as I've managed to stay fairly spoiler free other than what is seen in the blooper reel. But I wonder what impact (if any) this may have on Tony Head signing up for a US pilot?

(I can probably do the math on what that means for Uther in the series ... unless Head had signed up for the pilot on the assumption Merlin was heading into a gap year, which was the assumption up till now...)

They go out at the same time on a Saturday. That's why. They're the BBC's big budget crowd pleasers for family entertainment on Saturday evenings. They would never run two new shows like that together.

Yeah, plus it'd be anoying, I mean great at the time but then there'd be a big gap in Saturday evenings for 13 other weeks of the year! Best to spread the sci-fi-fantasy out rather than gobble it up all at once.

Anyway great news that Merlin's back this autumn! :bolian:

You know, I wasn't too keen on Merlin based on the first few episodes, but over time I continued to watch and eventually got hooked.

The Series 3 finale really raised the bar for where I want these stories to go.

I'm looking forward to exploring the rise of Arthur and the revelation of Merlin's magic to him. In a way, I kind of feel like the situation is similar to that of Clark and Lois on Smallville, once it's out in the open, I feel like the series could really go places.

I think I'm slacking again. I thought I'd posted this, but I don't think I have.

i'd put money on Merlin airing in October, November and December after Who finishes.

That worked when Merlin was reported as being cut to 10 episodes this year (6 Who + 10 Merlin nicely fits the 16 weeks between the August bank holiday to Christmas), but not if Merlin's back up to 13.
I guess that if opening and closing two-parters were run as double-length episodes (or over one weekend) it would still be possible.
