"Men of a certain age" - cancelled.

Ray Romano seemed to have killed it, since apparently everyone just hates him because of his sitcom.

If true, that would be ironic, insofar as Romano created this show in the first place.

I don't think people hate him. In fact, I think it's the opposite. Too many people see him as the "lovable" goofy suburban dad from the prior sitcom and can't accept him in a different role.
This made me think of Michael Chiklis. I got a kick out of seeing him on The Shield, knowing that he used to be on The Commish. That's quite a transition right there.

As for Men of a Certain Age, I was impressed by the idea of the show and the few clips that I saw and planned to catch it on DVD, something I still plan to do.

Absolutely loved this show, and bummed it got cancelled.... but to be honest I think two seasons might have been enough to tell the story of these characters.
There were only so many ways they could show Joe dealing with his gambling problems, or Owen struggling with his car dealership, and I think a third or fourth season might have risked getting repetitive.

While my love for watchin' Scott Bakula & Andre Braugher in almost anything they will do got me to tune in

Has any Andre Braugher series other than Homicide lasted?

He was just so arrogant. "Everybody Loves Raymond"? Don't tell me how to feel, dickwad! I'll make up my own mind about you! He also sounds so insecure. I prefer independent, self-confident iconoclasts; not wussy suburbanites who need validation by proclaiming that "Everybody" loves him!

I just got into this show within the last two months (caught it on DVD, reruns, and the final stretch of episodes). It was a good show. Too bad it is over.

Also, I hated, hated Owen's dad. But, we were suppose to as the character was such an ass.

Yes, his dad was an ass. I thought the father-son storyline with Owen and his dad was the best part. Joe was a spineless whiner, Terry was an immature diva but Owen was trying his best to keep the dealership going, despite his own father's contempt and attempts to sabotage him. I really liked Owen and all the goofballs at the dealership.

At least, in the last episode, Joe finally DID something (instead of just talk about it), Terry made a commitment, and Owen made a sort of truce with his dick of a father. That's about as much of a wrap-up as we're going to get.

Yeah, the last episode did give some sort of resolution. That's a plus.

I am curious; did Owen's dad sell the company for sure to the rival dealership? It seemed to imply that, but by the end of the episode, is implied that things were going back to normal. How could that be if a deal was made?

No, he said he would do the deal, but it was obviously too quick to have actually DONE it; I think it was pretty clear he'd just agreed to do it. It would take some time to actually get all the paperwork done.

That makes more sense. The episode wasn't overly clear on that point.
