Men in Black III being made (Not April Fools)

And it had Lara Flynn Boyle. :censored:

I actually kind of liked her in it, but there were moments where I didn't.

I dunno. Two just seemed like too much of a rehash of the original and just didn't have good momentum to it. It was also all over the place as far as the plot, what it was doing, settings, etc.

Please no. I loved the first one, but the second one was a complete disaster. I can't remember a single redeeming quality about it.

I would like to see this movie. They way I see it, since the second movie sucked they might actually work harder to make sure the third one does work. Put more thought into why the first movie worked and the second movie flopped. Also it will be harder to get Will Smith back so they will have to have a good script just to get his intrest I would imagine. I do think they need a new writer or writers for a fresh aproach to the material.

Does anyone else hate long breaks between movies in a series? It seems that when they come out only two or three years apart they are more consistent in terms of style and quality. When a sequel is filmed nearly a decade later, it just isn't the same.

Anyway, if I thought the movie was likely to be any good, I would be looking forward to it. I don't so I'm not.

I don't see what was so awful with MIB2. It wasn't great but it wasn't horrible. It was merely entertaining. But the first one was no great shakes either so I don't know what people were so disapointed about. Maybe if MIB were a great movie I'd get it but it isn't so I don't.

I can agree to that. as i see it MIBII was just trying to amp up the fun of MIB. it was good entertainment and what else can you expect from a movie with RIP TORN in it?

One the biggest problems that MBII had was that it was a rehash of the first movie. Instead of taking the ESB route and expanding the MIB universe with the sequel they took the easy route and did the original movie again. Can you imagine if ESB was just Luke going off the destory another ultimate weapon created by the Empire? The jokes weren't as good.

The best thing about MIBII was the stuff with Laura (played by Rosario Dawson). Rosario had good chemistry with Will Smith and I found the hinted family relationship between her character and K to be very interesting.

I've always thought MIB:III was inevitable. It was just awaiting Will Smith and may still. Sony wanting to do it is one thing, it happening without Will Smith would for sure spell EPIC FAIL. With Will Smith and it could still underperform at the box office and come out in the black with DVD.

If Will Smith was smart he won't sign onto this movie. It will tank without him.

He may have no choice. He may already be contractually obligated for sequels by his original MIB contract. Such clauses are fairly common, as is the 3-picture contract, particularly with Hollywood's strange obsession with "Trilogies".

The universe-within-a-universe spiel was one of the weakest angles of the first

Oh I have to disagree there. The second one does suck pretty badly, but I always loved the "universe-within-a-universe" thing. Either the marble, or the train locker, or the really big train locker. Yes its kind of silly, but it really worked for me.

Hes not. Hes on record as saying he does these types of movie for the money. He knows many of them have huge opening weekends.

I really liked the first one. But it seemed when it was just starting to get good it ended. Never saw the second one, but heard alot of bad things about it.

Good to see I'm not alone. I enjoyed both MiB's for what they were - turn off your brain and enjoy the show.

It's not often a movie falls into that category for me. Most of the time I prefer to keep my brain turned on. It was apparent in the case of MiB that they wanted to make the movies a comedy/farce/laughfest. Much in contrast to Independence Day which tried to be a serious movie but ended up, in my opinion, to be a comedy/farce/laughfest.

This franchise needs a reboot ;)

Seriously, now that we're past April 1st, is it still official?
