Hmm, besides being "...not final designs" it looks like the boxed figures are possibly mislabeled as being 8 inches when they appear to be a larger scale. Of course, lighting can play tricks.

Now, if they were to release a M'Ress figure, I'd order that thing so fast as to violate causality!
 
These do not impress me at all. The likeness to the actors is poor and the collars look like bandannas........I guess it is par for the course with Trek toys.

I think the clothes are meant to resemble the Mego figures from the 1970s. The uniforms had big collars like that.
But the face sculpts on these new figures look like they have been through some very rough times. :lol:

Yeah, the goal of the "Mego" figures is to tap into nostalgia for the original Mego line, and the inaccuracy is part of the kitsch appeal. Although that makes it odd that they'd even try doing larger figures, which aren't authentic to the period.
 
I guess I'm not the target audience for these then, but... wow is that an awful Uhura figure. Nichelle Nichols is a lovely woman and that figure misses the mark. I can sort of see the kitsch appeal of the others, but that Uhura is just way too far from reality.
