Megamind....

If it's Pixar or DreamWorks then it's usually worth checking out.

I like the origin idea of both hero and villain being the last survivors of the same doomed planet and then it seems to come down to upbringing. I also smile at the thought of the infant hero being raised by rich folks instead of middle class working people.

I couldn't care less about it being in 3D.

I'm not really fond of Dreamworks. They seem to mainly churn out these films assembly-line style and care more about the voice talent and fart jokes then actual quality. Pixar on the other hand, releases films once a year as opposed to every other month, focuses on appealing character designs, good storylines and smooth animation. Their most Dreamworksesque movie is Cars, which is IMO their weakest film as well. (Too much pressure from licensees, I think.)

This movie sounded much more interesting when it was supposed to be about a supervillain who kills his superhero nemesis and subsequently has to find new meaning in life. It seems they have moved away from that premise.

The new trailer just looks like a lame Incredibles wannabe. Then again, the How to Train Your Dragon trailer didn't look great either and I quite liked that movie. In general, DW can't hold a candle to Pixar, though.

Has anyone involved in the production said that they've moved away from that premise, or are you basing that on the most recent trailers? Because what you describe is exactly the premise of the Comic-Con preview I posted above.

The most recent trailer seems to suggest that the hero might have faked his death, but it follows the same basic premise of Megamind eventually having to assume the role of reluctant hero.

blah, this looks like typical Dreamworks shtick. They need to get away from this type of stuff & move towards making more films like How To Train Your Dragon.

I've been disappointed so far because it really feels like I've already seen the entire plot of the movie through the trailers. They have been blowing alot of surprises in the trailers.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this one. The first trailer "what if the bad guy won" was great, this latest trailer makes it seem more generic. Will likely wait and put it on my Netflix queue.

I think the newest trailer makes it pretty clear and I think I've read it somewhere, too. I'm not sure where, though.

The trailer I've seen (the German one) makes it look as if the hero just retires from being a super hero to follow a musical career. I'll probably see the movie in German, for a change, because Kalkofe and Welke will be doing the voices of the hero and the villain's sidekick. Frühstyxradio FTW. ;)

I too am cautiously optimistic too. While some trailers look pretty good some others have made it look not so good. I like the intro where we see both characters coming to earth, but there are some trailers I have seen that make it seem a bit too silly for me. But I am holding on to some hope.
