'Mega Piranha' SyFy original movie

At this point SyFy is just going around the 'net and buying films made by a bunch of guys with a camcorder, aren't they? Seems like each film is more sucky than the last.

oh my god.

Syfy's Saturday night movie "Mega Piranha" drew 2.2 million viewers, making it the channel's most-watched movie of the year. Of those, 807,000 were adults 18-49 (or, more interestingly, about 1.4 million people watching "Mega Piranha" on a Saturday night were not adults 18-49).

This is also a larger audience number than Syfy's Friday night drama "Caprica" has ever seen (and outdraws what "Stargate: Universe" typically pulls as well, though the "Universe" premiere was higher).

This bodes well for "Piranha 3-D" . . . .

I'm in two minds about this movie. I really laughed when I saw tha trailer. But another part of me just wonders why the hell someone would intentionally make a movie as shit as this one.

For fun?

If you're in the right frame of mind, a good, dopey movie can be a hoot.

The Soup had a clip from this movie. It was pretty funny.

Maybe now that Bruce Campbell has a steady gig, they can't get him to make B movies anymore?

Hey, this is The Asylum at it's finest!

Are they intended to be funny? I saw Komodo vs Cobra a couple of weeks ago, which was also from The Asylum I think. That one was hysterically bad, but I don't think it was intended as a comedy.
