I haven't played any of the games, but it's a good choice.
 
Ryan Hurst seems like he should be a good choice for Kratos.
Teresa Palmer from Warm Bodies and A Discovery of Witches has also joined the cast.

I'm a little surprised we're hearing about the casting for Sif, who isn't even mentioned in the first game, before characters like Atraeus, Freya, or Baldur, who are all pretty major players in the first game.
I haven't played Ragnarok yet, and I didn't even know that Sif was in it, before I saw the casting announcement.

I'm really confused now because, other than Kratos, all of these characters only appeared in Ragnarok. At first I was wondering if they were just entirely skipping the events of the first game, but the EW article does mention it covering the events of the first game, so I'm assuming they're adding new stuff involving these characters.
 
Mandy Patinkin is Odin, until he says the show is too dark and violent, then walks without telling anyone and they have to bring in Joe Mantegna.
 
I've seen the Deadpools, but I don't really remember him from the first one.

He was the main villain in the first film. Also, if you've seen it, you'll remember he played the bad guy in the Alita film.

He also appeared in Midway, Jurassic World: Rebirth, and Rebel Moon. I haven't seen Midway. I don't remember the other one either. He was also the first actor to portray the Daario Naharis character in Game of Thrones.

Are you kidding me? Or are you serious? Although, I can't remember either Rebel Moon or Jurassic World: Rebirth.

Principal photography for the God of War show reportedly began in Vancouver on February 27, 2026, and is expected to be completed on April 7, 2027. So yes, given that visual effects artists can't prepare everything in such a short time, it's probably AI.
