"We have received feedback from friends and families of fallen soldiers."

"[They] have expressed concern over the inclusion of the Taliban in the multiplayer portion of our game."

"Because the heartbeat of Medal of Honor has always resided in the reverence for American and Allied soldiers, we have decided to rename the opposing team in multiplayer from Taliban to Opposing Force."

I can't say I see what the big deal is about whether they're called the Taliban or not. Regardless of their name, they'll still be Muslim insurgents, and they'll still be killing Allied soldiers, so what exactly has this name change accomplished?

At the end of the day, it's just a game.

Pretty much. That's why it seems like a pointles exercise. It's a platitude, to pacify the people who are making a big deal about this, and to try and get those who've refused to stock the game, on the grounds it lets you play as the Taliban, to sell it.

Nothing whatsoever has changed about the gameplay, story, or context, so anyone who sees this name change as a good thing is an idiot.

It's a fucking game for christ's sake. No-one ever gives a shit that you can play as Nazis in WWII games, and that whole "the war on terror is more recent and closer to our hearts" crap is just bullshit.

HA! i totally called it. i said they'd change it to 'opposing force' like MW2's OpFor in the Afghan map!

Delta Force: Task Force Dagger just called their Taliban enemies 'the enemy'.

Personally the name Insurgents sound better to me but what gets me is that for more than a decade...

* People have killed Americans and Brits as Nazi characters online

* MW 2 has Americans killing Russians and Vice Versa

* Battlefield 2 had Americans and Chinese killing each other

so thats all ok ? then to the general media who just spent months on their soap boxes.

welcome to the real world.

about 6 years back, the Daily Mail ran a thing bitching about violent video games and they slagged off Doom 3 - before it was even released in Britain! and they dissed UT2004, which let's be honest is NOT the most realistic game going... how many times do you meet 7' tall green lizard-like aliens battling killer androids and 8' tall gene-boosted humans with rayguns?

Somehow "funny" how simply exchanging a name can calm people.. the game will still be the same.

I can't understand that.
