MechWarrior 5?

Jesus Christ, between the LucasArts classics going up on Steam, Tales of Monkey Island and now this, I feel like I'm back in 1994.

My main memory of this series is how MechAssault on the original Xbox contained a saved game exploit that allowed it to be used to softmod the console and install Xbox Media Centre. :)

Loved the first ones. Probably my all-time favorite games. Hated MW3. Didn't even know MW4 existed. Loved MechCommander 2 too.

Back in the day, I had all that cool Thrustmaster equipment. Rudder pedals, throttle, joystick with 4 hats, VR goggles.

I'm curious as to when this will be set. Are they going to try a Republic of the Sphere game, or play it safer with a FedCom Civil War or Word of Blake Jihad game?

This would be awesome. I loved MW4, it was the only good reason I bought a joystick. Customizing the mechs was great fun too... I put alot of effort into tweaking mine...

MW4 is going to be a free download apparently.

Which I don't understand... I guess it was made before MS bought FASA so... they own it... or MS just sold all the FASA assets to the new FASA people... or something.

I thought MS made MW4?

I preferred MW3, myself. Just didn't much care for the story in 4. But the action was pretty good.

Microsoft made MechWarrior 4, yes. But although they licensed the electronic rights to Smith and Tinker, generally the original publisher retains rights to the games they had published, as opposed to them transferring with the license (which is how MechWarrior 2 and 3 were able to stay in print from publishers other than Microsoft)

Never really got into MechWarrior but I really enjoyed the MechCommander series.

Well, somehow MW4 is going to be released for free... unless someone is just being excited and jumping the gun.

All right.. time to warm up the PPCs and fill up on cooling liquid! :techman:

Awesome.. i just love the Mechwarrior games and especially my Battletech buddies who have gone apeshit over the "dumbing" down on Mechwarrior from MW2 to MW3 :lol:

It was so funny hearing them ramble on and on..
