Meat or veggies. Which do you eat first?

What do you eat first?

I eat the meat first. I don't like vegetables much, so I like to savour and enjoy the food I do like, first.

And I much prefer to eat one item at a time, finishing it before I move on to the next part. That's just how I've always eaten.

I would find it strange to completely eat the meat first and then the vegetables or the other way round.
Yeah, I could never split them up like that. It would be like splitting them between whole meals (Veg for Breakfast, Meat for Lunch, Carbo for Dinner), only not to such an extreme.

I like veggies very much, but I like meat even better :D I eat the veggies first with the potatoes and some of the meat, but most of the meat I save for last.

Veggies first! Save the best for last! :D

my favorite is mashed potatoes, squash, corn, peas, turkey and lots of gravy over everything
the goal is to mash everything together while being as polite as possible so as to not be scolded by the elders of the family for playing with my food
You'd love a Dutch dish called a "stamppot"!
Especially Boerenkoolstamppot, which is kale + mashed potatoes + chopped bacon, served with either a "smoked" sausage or a bratwurst.

I had that yesterday  with apple sauce spread over it, no sausage though.

I find I increasingly consciously move to eat a bit of everything at once - after all, the dish is designed to fit together.

I see you've taught your Swedish cook well!

I'm the cook, she's the baker, lol. Actually she can't stand it, hutspot neither, so most of the time when I want something really Dutch it means me having to prepare two meals

I don't understand eating one's favorite foods first. If there is something on my plate I dislike (which is rare, I like most foods) I eat it first to get it out of the way. Then I can really enjoy the rest, which I tend to eat in any old order regardless of whether it is a meat, vegetable, fruit, dinner roll, or whatever.

I'm not sure why people are eating food they don't like in the first place. There is no reason for anything to be on your plate that you don't like.

I will usually eat the meat first because it's usually better tasting (to me) when warm, while I will still like the veggies when they have cooled.

I always eat veges first and not start on the meat until they are also gone. That is unless I'm at a restaurant and I have steak where I'll check to make sure the steak is cooked how I ordered and cut into it and take a chunk, then more back to veges before returning to finishe the job

I switch back and forth, I've never really thought about it before but I guess I don't like the idea of finishing one thing and then moving on to something else. I eat bits and pieces from everything to mix up the flavors in my mouth and to make sure that I don't get full before I get to try everything. I tend to get full on meat very easily.

Of course, I hate most vegetables and usually never eat them at all. However I will eat carrots with tons of salt so that is usually the only vegetable that I eat off my plate. This is if we're talking about going out to a restaurant. If I am cooking a meal at home I wouldn't make veggies at all.

Though I do like peas and corn, but only when it is mixed up with other food, like mashed potatoes and gravy, not by themselves. Except corn on the cob. I have intricate food tastes.

Because it's good for you... if I only ate those things that tasted really good I wouldn't be a very healthy person.

Maybe. I don't know. I think most healthy food is pretty delicious already, so I guess it's just not an issue for me. I almost never eat junk food.

I grab some veg first usually. However, from there it's essential that I go clockwise around the plate thereafter.

I'm a little OCD when it comes to eating.

Cousin-fucking, canon-violating, taint-hair-ingrowing... that I could cope with & understand.

But separating out the food groups and having an order in which you eat them?

Bunch of depraved weirdos, the lot of you. :p

We all have our breaking point.
