Meat or veggies. Which do you eat first?

What do you eat first?

My wife is not a big fan of vegetables and will always eat everything else on her plate first and save her veggies for last. Personally I find that a bit strange. I don't dislike vegetables but I always eat them first so I can savour the meat dish.

So what about the rest of you?

Many times I put my veggies on my meat and eat them both at the same time.

Subway and Hardee's for example. Then there is also Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes.

Most of the time I get the veggies out of the way first. Except for Creamed Corn; that I eat along with the meat.

[x] other, I take one bite of one then one of the other or both at the same time.

I would find it strange to completely eat the meat first and then the vegetables or the other way round.

My stepfather, who is a Brit, takes a little bit of everything on his fork. Now that I really don't understand!

Meat, followed by potato, followed by veggies.

The meat is the most important part. Gotta make sure I have room for all of it. Plus I don't want it to get cold.

I don't de-construct my meals and eat things in any specific order.

That said, if it's a large plateful I will eat the meat (if it's any good) before feeling full - after all, you can always find good veggies to fill up on.

Maybe the difference is, that I don't see vegetables as something to "fill up on" at all, but as a part of the meal, not "inferior" to meat in any way.

Not a big meat eater here--in fact, I hardly ever buy it or cook it if it's just me any more--but I usually go for the veggies first if there's both. When I do cook with meat, it is usually in something.

my favorite is mashed potatoes, squash, corn, peas, turkey and lots of gravy over everything
the goal is to mash everything together while being as polite as possible so as to not be scolded by the elders of the family for playing with my food

I'm not too fond of veggies at all. Couldn't eating them, it makes me so sick! But I can tolerate if I turned them into drinkable, that I can handle it! Carrots is very good for your eyes.

Well, they aren't.

But If I have a chunk of really good meat on my plate I would find it about as many more times wasteful to not eat it as it is resource demanding to produce (and expensive to buy) compared to vegetables. And I really, really, like meat; good meat is what makes a meal into a feast -for me anyway.

But of course it all depends; some people are simply not able to cook meat without totally destroying it - others are the same around veggies...

I always eat about half the veg first, then half the mash then a bit of the meat, followed by the rest of the veg, then mash then finish off the meat. That way I get the stufff I don't much like out of the way, but still get some variety.

It's a science.

I usually eat the vegetables I don't like first, then I alternate between eating the vegetables I do like and the meat.

OMG that's what I do ~ never thought it was weird :wtf: Am known to judge down to the last forkful which should have a piece of everything on.
Eating just the meat or veg first seems odd to me :shifty:
