Mckay's Wormhole drive?

Atlantis is only about 20 million years ago. The Destiny is about 60 million years old.

For comparison the Milky Way version Stargates are 50 million years old, it is unknown when the Pegasus version gates were developed.

Atlantis was well maintained and upgraded for the most of it's time in existence. Well until about 10,000 years ago when it was abandoned for 10,000 years.

Maybe they'll do just that when McKay appears in season 2.5.

It's about fucking time he showed up! Granted, I'm only about halfway through Season 1 but that's been bugging me the whole time. Why don't they use the communication stones to conference in Col. Carter, Dr. McKay, Dr. Zelenka, & Jeanie Miller with Dr. Rush? Between those 5 genuises, I would think they'd be a lot closer to figuring out how to get the crew home, or at least figuring out what their options are. Not to mention the communication stones would be great for temporarily sending in other experts, such as a fully qualified M.D. and a psychiatrist, rather than muddling through with their one medic! Instead, it seems that the communication stones are only used for emo Earth stories and Col. Telford's occasional power plays to take Col. Young's job, rather than any genuine practical use.

At the very least, it's kinda frustrating seeing the SGU cast so thoroughly stumped by Ancient technology when I had gotten so used to Dr. McKay solving a dozen tech crises every day on Atlantis.

They say a million on the show, but their descriptions are consistent with it predating the first stargate on Earth, which is 50 million years old. Most fans take the larger guess, rather than assuming that Destiny is actually the single newest piece of Ancient technology we've ever found.

Aside from a lot of Merlin's technology lying around the Milky Way, which I gathered was created after the Ancients abandoned Atlantis 10,000 years ago.

Nope, McKay is there to figure out how to use Langara's naquadriah core to dial Destiny without blowing up the planet.

I know that name. Which planet was Langara?

Why the need to close the thread? If it's closed, folks who may browse the board and stumble across it, interested in commenting, won't be able to...

Yeah, there's no reason to close this. It's not like it's gone off on a nasty tangent or anything. Old threads naturally fall off the first page and die. They don't need to be closed.
