Maybe Doctor Smith was the inspiration for Doctor Jones?

Imagine, just try to imagine that briefly, for a short time, that a very young George Lucas was a companion to the 11th Doctor.

Hurts don't it?

Funny thing is Smith, outside of his Doctor Who role, tends to dress a bit like Indiana Jones in public. (Fedora/Jacket etc.)

I doubt he'll have the glasses however, that would be too similar to Tennant IMO.

I think Guy is referring to Matt Smith, the latest incarnation of the Doctor in Doctor Who. Also, Dr. Jones is probably Indiana Jones.

Smith's Doctor costume is somewhat similar to that worn by Indiana Jones when he's just a college professor.

Funny thing is,there was an acclaimed fan film about Lucas, George Lucas In Love, which had him basically meet people who inspired his characters in college.

The 'real world' inspiration for Indiana Jones comes mainly from classic adventure films, along with a bit of James Bond (The Bond influence being most prevelant in the casting of Sean Connery as Indy's father, and also the opening scene of Temple of Doom which has Bond in an outfit resembling Connery's in the opening of Goldfinger).

^Damn, I hope Matt Smith is a good actor, because he looks like god-damned Frankenstein's monster!

Yeah, a lot of controversy has been made of Matt Smith's appearence. A Doctor Who fanzine recently actually had a cartoon of him with the bolts and stitches of Frankenstein.

However, it's important to realize that the role of Doctor Who isn't really about appearence. Tom Baker, before Tennant, was probably the most popular actor in the role, and he kind of had a bizzare appearence as well. Plus William Hartnell, the guy who originated the role, was a middle-aged man, as was Pertwee.

I would argue only Mcgann and Tennant have been the only true "sex appeal" Doctors.

I don't need sex appeal. I just want someone that doesn't look like a teenage Frankestein's monster. The should have gone with an older actor this time.

^Which was Moffat's original intent; however he was impressed with Smith's audition.

Personally I've always wanted to see Bill Nighy as the Doctor (Strange thing is he's apparentally been cast in the new season but not as the Doctor)
