With the cancellation of the Academy series on my mind, I've decided to make the May/June writing challenge about school or education of some sort. Established/licensed franchise series (everything from Roddenberry to Kurtzman), or your own fanfic creations/characters are game. There is no page limit. The deadline is June 30. Looking forward to your submissions.

A nice theme. This could be academy cadets, "non-traditional" students, apprenticeships, or refresher/recertification programs? Or could this include a Romulan warbird captain "schooling" a Federation Constitution class captain in the finer arts of space combat? Maybe even a poker game "schooling" in how to bluff, by a Vulcan?

There are a ton of great ideas for this; childhood regression, naked in school dreams, Q involvement, learning strange and weird alien technology, it is endless, yet original.

Some story dealing with education, whether in school or out of it, so yes to your questions.

Does that mean something learned in class? Or anything that takes place in that setting?
Yes to your questions. As long as education, of some sort, is involved, it's all fair game. It can be set in a classroom, or not because people learn outside classrooms perhaps more than they do inside them. I used "school" as a topic because I was thinking about the Academy series, but my intention was more open ended. However, if you wanted to write a story set at the Academy or characters reminiscing about their Academy days, for example, that is fine too.

Further it can be about something learned in a formal class setting, or something learned outside of it, but there should be some learning going on in whatever you come up with.

Thanks. I've had an idea and now I get to use it.

So, we have a few entries. I'll start the voting thread later today (it's easier on a computer).

Sorry Count Zero. Life got in the way and the contest slipped my mind. Apologies also to the contestants. If you set up the voting that would be great.
