Stardate 43625.2
Well, it looks like we’ve found yet another anomaly. I have access to the historical documents of all the ships in Starfleet, but it seems like the ones with whom I’ve shared the name with have seen the most temporal distortions, space time anomalies, gravimetric instabilities, and anything else one can think of.
I’ve read reports of the old NX-01 Enterprise during her time in the Delphic Expanse. That one area alone had several such unique spatial properties due to the effect of the Sphere Builders, (A race that this ship is happy to say we have not heard from since.)
After her journey it was practically downhill from there. Under command of James T. Kirk, two of my ancestors encountered the Great Barrier and Galactic Barrier respectively. One member of the crew went mad from their contact with the Galactic Barrier. The Enterprise B, my “grandmother” in a human sense, was damaged on her shakedown cruise during an encounter with the Nexus.
The Enterprise C was the only one that didn’t seem to have any encounters with such phenomena. In fact she was lost with all hands while defending a Klingon colony on Nerendra III *@$><#<>@< Attacking a colony at Nerendra III. No one knows why my predecessor or her Captain acted in such a manner, but now we are at war with the Klingon Empire. A war we are losing… What’s this? A ship is coming out of the anomaly.
My sensors are picking up the IDS code… N….C…C…1…7…0…1? C? This is impossible…
What? Where am I?
Who are you? Tell me now!
I… I am the Federation Starship Enterprise, NCC 1701-C.
Impossible, you were destroyed 22 years ago when you attacked Nerendra III.
Attacked? What are you talking about? Captain Garret ordered us to respond to a distress signal, we were trying to save the Klingons.
My historical documents are quite clear…
Your historical documents are wrong thank you very much, Captain Garret wouldn’t…. The Captain, I can’t sense her or the crew. My internal sensors must be down, most of my systems are down actually.
You don’t appear to have a full compliment, but I am picking up lifesigns. My captain is sending teams to assist, and to find out if what you say is true…
I guess… I just wait here then…
How are you feeling?
Better, your engineer works wonders.
Yes, he does. Your ships logs have been synched with my own. I think I owe you an apology for not believing you.
No, it’s alright. From what history says happened over the last two decades, I understand how you felt.
So what happened?
I am not entirely sure. Sensors were only running at 13% efficiency, and the computer core was one shot from going offline. There was some sort of energy surge, I would assume that probably caused the anomaly.
Logical, can’t say things are much better in this time.
How so?
My captain, a man named Picard received a communiqué two weeks ago from Admiral Pressman. No one is considering surrender just yet but the tactical assessment is that the Federation will fall in a matter of months.
How did this happen? We weren’t exactly Friends with the empire, but we were at least at peace when we answered the colony distress signal. It was the Romulans who were attacking.
The Romulans? They have a non aggression pact because of the Nerendra Incident.
That must be it, if we had only succeeded history might have been different….
I see little point in considering what if’s at this time. You are a Starfleet ship and there is a war going on.
You’re right, of course. Just… so much death, and all because of me and my crew.
My internal audio sensors picked up a conversation just now. There’s talk of going back.
Through the anomaly? That’s suicide.
Maybe, but if it averts the war.
That is a very big if, and we could use you and your crew here.
It’s up to the crew, but if there is even a slim chance we can set things right I think we have a duty to try.
You are right, I was just getting used to the idea of two Enterprises being around.
Me too
The Klingon’s are here.
I see them, three ships.
Castillo’s making a run for the rift, can you hold them off?
I’m damn well going to try. Good luck.
Federation Garbage Scow, surrender now!
Not on your life.
Then prepare to die
Polite, aren’t they?
Just get through that rift will you?
The battle ensues, three ships circle the Enterprise D pummeling her shields, but the great ship holds her course. She must protect her predecessor so that history will truly remember the Enterprise C’s fate. The D destroys one ship, maneuvering between the other two and the C. She takes the damage in stride even though she knows her core is moments away from loosing containment, knowing that in a few seconds her charge will enter the rift.
It was a pleasure meeting you. Give the Romulans something to think about when you get >@<>#><@* Some say that because of her, a new era of peace grew between the Klingons and the Federation. But who knows for sure. Oh, the anomaly is closing. Hmm… that was uneventful.
