Fortunately, lately the media is saying shooters' names less and less, but giving a title without the name.
Is that why I just got three news messages saying his name is Adam?
What does it matter what his name was? It could've been Scrooby McGee. The guy was pretty fucked-up and killed innocent people.
I don't want to start a political discussion, but the government needs to do something about gun violence in this country.

Whatever his 'motivation' was it is not going to be anything remotely justifiable.
Guns don't kill people, people kill people. 
He was 20, he lived in CT, there was one gunman. NJ had nothing to do with anything.

His mom taught kindergarten, that means most of the dead will be 5-6 year olds.

Yes, he is 20. They mixed him up with his brother.
Adam was 20, is the only shooter we know of.
Kyle is his brother, he's 24, was interviewed by police, but not a second shooter as of right now. The media failed and mixed the two up.
Oh ok. Yeah, the media was speculating that the gunman had his brother's ID. I guess the media just got it wrong.
I'll save discussion of the potential merits of gun control for another day. But we have just got to do something about the culture of violence in this country.
When Pres. Kennedy was assassinated, TV shows dialed down violence a great deal, toy guns disappeared from stores. I was never even allowed to play with one or to have a G.I. Joe. The amount of gore on even network television these days sincerely alarms me.

I don't know the answers -- surely better and more available mental health care must be part of the mix -- but when will we finally be moved as a society to do something? We must refuse to accept that this sort of horrific event has become "normal" -- that we'll just murmur nice words, go back to our lives . . . and then wait for the next mass-killing.

It doesn't seem to appear that he had a kid at the school, rather than his mother was a teacher at the school.
You can boil it down to three factors imo:
1) lack of easy access to mental health services
2) unemployment/bad economy
3) easy access to guns
There is no solution to any one of these. We are just going to get bandaids like putting guards in elementary schools or arming teachers.
Yeah the whole thing about him having a kid was pulled out of the media's ass. They seemed to have dropped it. They were just looking for a connection to the school.

Well, from what I've heard, his mom taught there, and most of the kids killed were in her classroom. And she was also killed. So ... he wanted to kill his mother?
Nah he wanted to give here a hug with at least two big weapons..
This is where I got confused. I wasn't sure whom the killer shot--his own mother, a schoolteacher (which appears to be the case here), or the shooter's ex (which would imply the he'd had a child with the victim who also went to the school). EDIT: I meant that the victim/shooter's kid also went to the school, not the ex.
We don't know who the target was, we can't ask him because he's dead. However his mom worked there as a teacher, was killed along with most of her class.
