Mass Effect/Firefly request

Considering the main fuselage/main engine "wing" thing i've modelled up there were the main problem areas, I figured just importing the rest of the components from the old mesh with some slight changes was a good enough move.

Great work man. I really can't thank you enough. This is turning out 100% better then I thought it would when I first had the idea. I owe you big time. Your ever in Ontario, the drinks are on me!

What colour do ya think she should be? I'm thinking a reddish/brown/rust look myself.

Yeah, I love the design, not as much as I love the SR1 and SR2, but it's still a great design. It's got just enough strange curves to be interesting, while still being a definate human design. I kind of see the design as being an older System's Alliance Frigate that was eventually surplused out to private owners where they could be used in a wide variety of ways. Some might still be armed and used as a combat ships for the various merc groups out there. Others could be used as personnal yachts. I rather enjoy the idea of an older military vessel being used as a light transport. It's old, it's rough around the edges, but you knew she's tough and well built and might even have a little fight left in her. God I miss Firefly.....The Mass Effect universe is set up so perfect for similar stories.

Not much of anything at the moment....kinda burnt out on modelling for a while. Need to recoup and get the hunger for it again. Sorry guys. Hopefully there will be something soon.

And yeah, I know you said reddish brown for the color, but I wanna get the "official" look down first, and then go back and reedit it to whatever custom design you want.

(I'm using the concept art sketch as my official baseline for this btw.)

:) YAY for that spark of interest! I don't know what to say other then I love it. I honestly don't understand why this thread doesn't get more attention as your work on this "little" project has been great. Loving the Alliance paint job and can't wait to see what you come up with for the "worn look". Just out of curiosity, what have you scaled this ship at? I`d say a little shorter then the SR1, which is, at best guess about 176 meters according to fan speculation around the net. For the record, the SR2 looks to be about 216 meters.

I know I mentioned a reddish/brown colour for the beat up old rust-bucket version, but on second thought I'm thinking of a colour tone more akin to that of Serenity. Less a painted look, and more an old beat up metal look with lots of bronze and roughed up silver with bit's of rust and corrosion. Perhaps with the remains of what used to be a paint job. That is unless you managed to start on the reddish version, in which case don't worry about it.

I wonder what the deck layout is.
I was wondering that myself, as well as what the armaments (if any) are.

I'm also thinking that, when the finished product materializes (great work, btw, Dac), if nobody minds I'm going to yoink this sucker as the hero ship - the Avalon - for a Firefly-universe roleplaying game that I have been mulling running for my RPG group for quite a while now. :techman:

(The Alliance overran the dirt-poor planet Ozark during the war and forced "the royal court", such as it was, into exile aboard the one half-way (well, quarter-way) decent ship the planet had - the Avalon. Think a more serious Beverly Hillbillies in space, only with the bank and the government trying to hunt them down. :D)

Forgive the crudeness of this image, but it's how I would imagine the deck layout would be, provided the ship is as small as I would think (and like) it to be.

Just a thought.....If you were to planning on slapping a name on this thing...I'm thinking MSV ARIEL would be a good one.

Sorry dude, I'm doing CG work 8 hours a day + 2 hours for commuting....I really havent touched anything like that on my home computer for a month now, and I doubt I will be till I'm done with this internship.
