Mass Effect (1)

I'm almost back to where I was... just started the last Rannoch mission. Hopefully this weekend I'll be able to finish the game. Right now I am pretty sure that I have made all the same choices as the first time, and I haven't run into anything new, which probably means I did a thorough job the first time. Sitting at about 20 hours which is about half of my original playthrough.

Interesting on the ME2 conversation... I didn't realize a squadmate could turn un-loyal. Always managed to smooth things over with my blue conversation option, I guess!

Yeah, if you pick either the Paragon or Renegade options, Shepard will either coax or berate the arguers into putting aside their differences for the moment and focusing on the mission at hand. If you pick one of the regular options, you end up siding with whichever character you choose and the other one becomes disloyal.

Do you have Extended Cut downloaded, Ood Sigma?

By the way, there seem to be multiple avenues leading up to Jack's "$%&@ off!" I somehow managed to inadvertently pseudo-seduce her on my last file, and when I finally figured out how to escape it, she was not a happy panda.

Been bouncing between DA2 and ME1 playthroughs this week, and I'm happy with how my Paragade's turning out. She's all nice to people up until someone starts giving her a hard time, at which point she has zero tolerance for their bullshit. Think my favorite moment so far was the earthborn Citadel quest. Tenth Street Reds guy threatens to tell people about her past gang ties, Shep whips out her pistol, "No, you won't." *BAM* Shoots him dead on the spot.

Had that with my primary Shep. I managed to keep her loyalty but she evidently figured that Shep was trying to romance her but Jack wasn't open to the idea (Femshep after all).

That's one problem I had with a couple of the squadmates in ME2. I thought Shep was just being friendly and they thought Shep was on the prowl:lol:

Or how it's impossible for FemShep to talk to Jacob without sounding flirty.

[sexyvoice]"I'm more interested in just talking for a bit."[/sexyvoice]

My Paragade has every intention of sending Jacob into the vents just so I don't have to listen to his dull as dirt ME3 dialogue yet again while Shep unconvincingly sounds like she's interested in anything he as to say. "Things are good. I'm good, Shepard." Yeah, that's great, Jacob. I'm just going to be leaving now...

Oh, and Ronald Taylor is a dead man too.

As soon as that line popped up I sort of stopped talking to Jacob for my primary.

I've only actively tried to kill him off (and almost everyone else) in one playthrough to date though.

Yes, I've downloaded The Extended Cut. My plan was (and still is) to watch the original ending after I watch the Extended Cut ending, just to see what's different.

Don't. You can get the original ending on YouTube AFTER playing the EC if you're curious. The original ending, because it was clearly rushed, will leave you with the same confused WTF?! that consumed the internet for 3 weeks. It is obviously rushed, filled with plot holes, and will leave you questioning why you even played the game for about an hour afterwards.

You have an advantage the rest of us didn't, for the love of God, Ethane, Kalihira, or the Void, use it.

D'oh. Well...I'll leave my poor reading ability up as a lesson to anyone without the good sense of our Oodish friend. I really can't say it enough to anyone, install the DLC. It patches some bugs during the game, in addition to fixing the end of it.

And the ending is STILL rushed, full of plot holes, and makes me wonder why I bothered. Only now it's longer and has narration. The epilogues are inoffensive, but the ending itself is still garbage. The best advice I can give you is not to expect much from it. That way if you like it then hey, happy surprise.

Haha, yeah. I guess it was the suicide mission thing. Should have taken Garrus' old crew's advice and had 'em all beat eachother up, that might have solved some of the stress. :guffaw:

Plan is to get back to where I was by tonight, and then finish it off tomorrow.

I know you are supposed to start the Extended Cut from the final "take down Cerberus" mission. Were there any additional scenes in that mission, or is it only the ending? Reason is, even though I had downloaded it before that mission, it was on the wrong memory unit so if there were extended scenes I probably missed them. Either way I think that is the point where I'm going to stop my skip-through and watch all the cut scenes again.

Oh, another question: is there any possible way, even when starting at level 30, to hit level 60 on your first playthough? Going into that last mission I think I was level 56. Unless there is a massive amount of experience in that mission, I don't see how I could have ended higher than 57 or 58. I mean, I probably missed a First Aid station or two but I just don't see how you can get 2-3 levels higher.

To your first question: I'm 99% certain at this point that there aren't. As far as I can tell, the added sequences don't even start until the tail end of the final mission, but they definitely keep 'em rolling fairly consistently from thereon out. There is one confrontation that is completely unchanged, but most fans agreed it was at least decent stuff to begin with, so there wasn't really any need.

Second question: For the life of me, I haven't figured out how. I started at Level 30 and somehow managed to scrape up to Level 57, I think, but it was tough going. There may be, but damn if it isn't rough!

Just Googled it - it is possible, if you play on Insanity to get the max XP bonus from medi-gel, and then never use medi-gel in the game. And of course start with a ME2 imported character.
