Mary Tamm should be the next Trinity Wells

Trinity Wells, of course, is the American newscaster who keeps turning up on Doctor Who, Torchwood and SJA. In fact she's apparently the only character to appear in all 3 shows. Last we saw of her was in End of Time.

With a new era it's probably time to retire Ms. Wells. And I think Mary Tamm would be a great choice.

We keep wanting to see classic-series cast members on the new show -- I think it would be great to see Mary doing the newscaster routine one of these days! (If not, she's definitely got the Mrs. Wormwood/Miss Foster look down pat! Not to mention she really looks like Jacqueline Bisset in this clip, which I can't complain about at all!)

Sure, I wouldn't mind seeing Tamm as a new reporter. New is good, so I see no reason for The Moff not to give a whole new generation their own "Trinity Wells" character...

To be honest I never saw the need for a regular news anchor. Newscasters change all the time, and they certainly have lives and don't work every hour god sends. That Trinity was always on the tv whenever there was a crisis was a bit silly if you ask me...which you didn't

why would you reuse an actor who has had such a big role in the show, whatever next recasting Billie Piper in a new role? that was nothing to do with Rose?

Jacqueline Hill returned to the series for a story in a completely different role. I have no objection to old series companions returning in new roles.

But Trinity Wells should continue!

As for Trinity Wells, I'm mostly indifferent to her. I don't think I even noticed that she was the same reporter until people were pointing it out in the review thread for "The Stolen Earth." *shrug*

I have a keen eye (and strange appreciation) for recurring background characters; I think I first noticed Trinity Wells when she popped up yet again in "The Sound of Drums" (though back then the Internet was still calling her "Mal Loup").

I just realized that Mary Tamm can't fill this role because Ms. Wells is an American reporter. Jason Mohammad, a real-life BBC Wales reporter, is usually who we get the UK perspective from.
