Marvel's Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.

I amnot Herbert

Lieutenant Commander
"Marvel's mightiest superheroes -- Hulk, She-Hulk, Red Hulk, A-Bomb and Skaar -- team up to tackle threats too enormous for other heroes to handle."

"Hulk's pal Rick Jones begins making a web series to show the world Hulk is a hero, so he forms S.M.A.S.H. and fights evil in front of the cameras."

Watch Season 1 Now

...just started watching this last night...

for a "cartoon", it's not bad at all, IMHO

check it out! ...and discuss? :bolian:

watched 1st Ep... so far, no bruce banner, hulk is fairly articulate / reasonable, he has a mild sense of humor... he get's angry, but no rage yet...

Rick Jones is a little annoying, but wasn't he always...? ;)

Skaar is pretty cool... serious martial skills... :klingon:

I watch this show, but I don't really care for it. It's definitely the weakest of the three Marvel toons.

I tape it for my sons, but overall, I just don't find it enjoyable. There was always something irritating about the set-up. As much as I love Clancy Brown, Red Hulk gets annoying. I could hear Brown do Lex Luthor's voice all day (and its the voice I hear in my head when I read a comic with Lex in it), but Red Hulk gets on my nerves. Seth Green's Rick Jones is beyond annoying.

I am one of those who really enjoyed Spectacular Spider-Man and Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and I just don't dig the current Marvel shows the same way. Ultimate Spider-man is my favorite of the bunch, with Hulk being my least favorite.

Yes! Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes is/was a good show! :)

...i still miss the OLD Marvel Superheroes Cartoon from '66!

...had some good sub-mariner and thor stories, IIRC :)

Spec Spidey and Avengers:EMH were amazing. My favorite all time Marvel cartoons. I was so crushed that they were both cancelled and replaced with this subpar kiddie fare.

This is in the same universe as Avengers Assemble and Ultimate Spider-Man.

Tenuous guest star cross overs and shared villains rosters.

Hulk is grumpy in Avengers Assemble, yet he was mindless in Ultimate Spider-man, and then they upgraded his intelligence through an adventure with Mesmero who played with his brain, which if you squint is perhaps a wind up to Agents of S.M.A.S.H..

Clancy Brown = Lex Luthor = The Kurgen = Mr Crabs = Red Hulk.

Seth Green = Scott Evil = A-Bomb.

This show was clearly designed for a very, very young audience.

nice info / connections! thank you :)

mr. crabs?!? i love that guy!!!

good thing i'm still a kid inside... ;)

Hulk and even Ultimate Spider-man feel like they're targeted to the tween and under crowd. Nothing wrong with that; it's just not something I'm interested in. Avengers Assemble holds some facets of that too, but it seems to skew just enough to a more mature age group that I enjoy watching it.

...watched a couple more episodes last night, it's actually growing on me.

Yes, Seth Green is annoying... but in a funny way that i guess the kids like these days...

I like the comic-book art style, and the animation quality... the hulk-buster suits were pretty cool

Annihilus and the Leader are very well done IMHO

I REALLY liked the Hulk-Annihilus battle! excellent "energy effects"! :klingon:

oh, and towards the end of every Ep. they have one moment that is pretty darn funny! :guffaw:

...so far, i give it a generous 4-stars ;)

It's not so much the intended audience, I think Spider-Man does better with the humor. Avengers Assembled attempts usually fall flat. Hulk is even worse.

Well, the humour may not work as well but it IS also the intended audience. The cartoons need to sell toys so they target that age group of boys (not girls). Paul Dini has talked about it a number of times and he should know. He's a writer for the show.

...yeah, just watched the 4th ep.

the humor was pretty flat / lame / burrito related

...but watcha expect? ;)

none of the current Marvel cartoons are worth a damn. Ultimate Spider-Man being the worst.

This "intended audience" stuff sounds more like an excuse for a crappy show to me. Spectacular Spider-Man was completely kid-friendly and a great show. Same goes for Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. (Season 2 went downhill though, in my opinion.) I quite enjoy shows that are made for kids to enjoy. Not so much shows that are made for only kids to enjoy.

(Not meant as an insult for anyone who likes Ultimate Spidey etc.)

Spectacular was aimed at teenagers.

Agents of S.M.A.S.H. is aimed at 6 to 10 year olds.

The audience may skew older because lets face it, it's Marvel and we can forgive Marvel a lot... Oh. The Super Hero Squad Show. Where they had Bobble heads. That shit hurt my feelings.

One bit I thought was clever/Hilarious in an old episode of Agents of S.M.A.S.H..

Leader "You don't know who I am? Really? really? I am... The Leader!"

Doctor Doom "The Leader of what?"

Leader "Why, the Earth of course."

Doctor Doom "[rolleyes]Reeeally[/rolleyes]."

I actually prefer the insane childishness of Superhero Squad to the middling childishness of this current crop.
