Marvels' Eternals Discussion - Spoiler Warning

@The Nth Doctor and I don't agree on much, but he's right about Rotten Tomatoes scores being completely meaningless.

I've largely become ambivalent towards the MCU, but both this movie and Shang Chi have kind of reignited my interest by appealing to the kind of genre storytelling that I gravitate towards and by standing out as something different than the standard paint-by-numbers cookie-cutter action fare that is most of the MCU.

The movie also gets props from me for simultaneously evoking and deconstructing similarities between the Eternals and DC's preeminent superhero team, the Justice League.

So - as a complete newcomer to this - would reading the original 70's Eternals comics be helpful in any way, before/after the movie (if it all)?
A someone who read (and still has) that run when it came out in 1976 (I was 13) - I'd have to say no.

That first series does have a lot of the same themes and character names; but I assume things 'evolved' (pun intended) in the various comic book retakes on this set of characters based on what I recall from that comic series and the film I saw. All the original elements are a part of the film to be sure; but the film is in many ways very different from that first comic series - so, no, I don't think you lose anything by not reading any of the Eternals comics prior to the film; and even aspects of that first run may spoil some parts of the film for you because like I said - a lot of the original elements are still a part of the film.
