Marvels' Eternals Discussion - Spoiler Warning

Not quite. In Iron Man 55, the issue to introduce the Titans, Thanos and Drax, the other Titans were also purple. The issue only establishes that the Titans are a very advanced civilization and asked the non-corporeal Chronos to resurrect Arthur Duglas to be Drax and kill Thanos.
When the Titans reappeared in the Thanos War arc in Captain Marvel they were changed to be white. In Captain Marvel #29 (part of that arc), their backstory is laid out further. They go back to Greek myths, before the Greek gods were a thing and Titans (as in children of Gaia and Uranus) were in power. The Greek Titans were of course in-fighting, with Uranus and the older Titans opposing Chronos and the younger Titans. Chronos won, exiling Uranus to the planet that now bears his name (I think this is a set up for the original Marvel Boy from the 50s?). Chronos then had two children, Zeus and A'Lars (aka Mentor of the Titans). A'Lars was all peace-loving and science-y, but Zeus was a warrior and bit of an asshole. Later on, Chronos accidentally became a god-ish discorporated being in the sky, due to a science experiment gone wrong (because it's the Marvel Universe and stuff like that just happens). Zeus took control of the gods' civilization and exiled A'Lars to space. Once A'Lars reached Titan (the moon) he discovered the remains of a civilization destroyed by war, pollution and inner strife. The only survivor is Sui-San, who he then married. Together they rebuild Titan and had two children (Eros and Thanos). One of them liked to have sex a lot, the other was really into war and being an asshole (I'm sensing a pattern here...) and was exiled. Thanos then came back with an army and conquered Titan, to use it as a staging ground against Earth.
So, to summarize: Titans were originally purple. Then they weren't, but descended from Greek creatures of myth and the natives of Saturn's moon Titan.

I just starting reading the original Kirby stories from the 70s. Great Jack Kirby craziness and artwork, but in the first issue I love how Deviants just own the name. Calling themselves Deviants is just hilarious.

Plus, Chloé Zhao did an interview with Fandago where she talked about the impact of Eternals on the MCU. This part stands out:
That's saying something considering the events of The Infinity War and Endgame. I'm guessing the Eternals will publicly reveal themselves and their relationship with the planet.

It's interesting that Zhao emphasizes the ecological impact, which means the film going to address some of the issues we've talked about regarding life on Earth after Bruce's Snap, particularly in the Falcon and the Winter Soldier thread. The question is how deep they'll go into that impact because, as discussed in the aforementioned thread, we know that, in reality, things would be a lot worse than what we've seen in the films and shows since Bruce's Snap.
That said, this part of the interview makes me the most excited about the film:
I've only seen Nomadland out of Zhao's limited filmography but I loved how she captured the story and the land the characters who occupied it. It feels like Eternals will have that same feeling.

How would you say this movie redefines everything we've seen so far from the MCU? What do you think he means by that?
Chloé Zhao: Well, let’s see… I think a big part of it is that audiences will be discovering the origin of the MCU through the mythology of the Celestials. I think by the end of the film, we will have a new understanding of planet Earth’s relationship with the cosmos, and also with her own inhabitants. But in that sense, it would have a huge effect on the future of the MCU.
Chloé Zhao: Well, let’s see… I think a big part of it is that audiences will be discovering the origin of the MCU through the mythology of the Celestials. So, between that ecological implication, and the sudden mysterious return of the Deviants, it's time for the Eternals to get back to work.

But I think for this specific movie, what drew me to this movie and why they hired me, I think, is that the visual experience for this film must feel immersive enough for the audience to believe that these superhero characters have walked the earth for 7,000 years. So, to do that, there’s what I like to call an anthropological way of capturing things. The cameras are very grounded, and the movements are very natural. Shots are longer — we use wide angle lenses, and deep focus. Very similar to the thing you and I did together for Nomadland… it's about giving the audience the space and the time to be able to explore what's within the frame, and therefore come to their own conclusion of the relationship between the characters and the space they're in.
In this case you're going throughout history and 7,000 years, [and so it’s] even more important to make us feel like this world feels real and grounded. I wanted to apply that same digital style to everything from action, visual effects, to also capturing the grand mythology of the Celestials in the cosmos, and the consistency of that. I wanted it to feel grounded yet fantastical.

It sounds like they may be staying more closely than I had anticipated to the origins of the Eternals from the comics based on Zhao's responses.

I missed the beginning, but had the lucky timing of joining in during Zhao and Feige's interview which was very enlightening. Makes me even more excited for this film.
