Marvel Teases The Age of X!

The character is hardly overdone...it might seem that way to fans but Jean has only died twice (just like Buffy!) and has been absent from the landscape since the end of Grant Morrison's New X-Men run when he had Logan ram his claws through her stomach at her request as she was going into full Phoenix mode. Jean has been my favorite character since I first started reading X-Men.

How many years was she dead between Dark Phoenix and X-Factor #1?

I dunno...I do know that she's been dead recently since 2003. Greg Pak did write the "Phoenix:End Song" one shot where Jean ascends to the White Phoenix. As far as we know she is in the 'White Hot Room' still regenerating and the Phoenix entity stated that essentially they're one and the same entity now. Both Emma and Rachel have felt her presence psychically recently and Rachel replied while in battle in space "Oh not now Mom" or something like that. Of course Emma's response was a little more quipped..

The Age of X versions of Magneto, Rouge, and Cyclops. The more I read about this the more my interest increases.

Here is a collection of the history stills that Marvel released last month depicting important past events. It is clear that they're attempting to establish that Age of X is a much different and darker universe than ours or even AOA was.

Well the "Age of X Alpha" one shot came out this week and...Age of Apocalypse this is not. While AOA started off with a bang and had alternate universe version of characters that were fun and cool...Age of X seems to not. The only two characters that I actually liked were Magneto and Storm. Most of the characters have alternate names as well. Cyclops goes by Basilisk and wears some kind of mask contraption over his face to conceal his optic blasts instead of glasses. He was used by Arcade who was governor of California as an execution device for prisionors on death row.

This series looks like it will take some time to get used to...I'm kind of waiting for Age of X Universe #1 to come out to see what the rest of this time line's characters are like, else I might drop this entirely.
