Marvel Studios may be planning more MCU for the small screen

I've done some digging. Apparently this rumor is being reported by the same guy who said that early reports were saying Daredevil was terrible. So take it with a grain of salt.

Marvel has added a whole ton of comics related to Typhoid Mary to Comixology. I can't help but wonder if this means they have plans for the character in either the shows or movies. Daredevil does seem to me like the most likely place she would pop up.

Could you clarify what they recently released? I usually use Marvel Unlimited and all the stuff from her in either Ann Nocenti's run or Brian Michael Bendis's run (i.e., Hardcore) were already online there. If it's just that, I don't think it signifies much.

In addition, Marvel just released the Typhoid's Kiss Trade Paperback that has her non-Daredevil appearances. If it's that stuff, I doubt it's show related since that was announced months before they got a second season.

I do agree that Typhoid Mary would make the most sense in Daredevil's show. In fact, I'd go further and argue she'd make no sense anywhere else.
 
The creative committee disbanding is news I didn't know. I understand it as well, but also have mixed feelings. My biggest concern is there's now fewer ties between Marvel film and Marvel television (essentially none), which might decrease the chances of the movies ever caring about the shows.
 
I wonder what this means. More creative freedom for the filmmakers, perhaps, but will the universe have such a strong unifying vision?

I'm also concerned at the separation between the movie and TV divisions. I fear that could mean less interconnection between the two, and perhaps a harder time maintaining continuity between them.

The AoU interconnection seemed really shoehorned in - particularly the big 'reveal' on AoS which didn't make any sense whatsoever given what had been going on in the show up to that point.

"Daredevil" hasn't been mentioned in any MCU film since its airing and given the somewhat limited scope of the show that doesn't seem like it'd be odd anyway.

And I would like them to improve on that, but this makes it seem less likely.
 
I don't mind if Daredevil stays off the Avengers' radar, but I do wish they hadn't left Stark Tower out of the Manhattan skyline shots in DD (and Agents of SHIELD).
 
Well, I know Charlie Cox has mentioned in interviews that he's contractually obligated to do Marvel movies. That doesn't necessarily mean that he's to play the character of Daredevil in a movie, or that he'll even do a movie for Marvel, it would certainly be a waste though.

Eh, that's likely a time/budget thing rather than anything else.

I think the biggest consequence of this -- outside of a committee no longer ensuring that every movie is a bland, inconsequential glorified two-hour trailer for the next one -- is that Marvel Studios will finally stop lowballing its cast and crew. They keep pouring dump trucks of cash on Downey, Jr.'s front lawn, because he is the star of the series, but it's well known in the industry that the rest of the Avengers cast worked for peanuts on the first movie and only received very modest increases for Age of Ultron. Favreau was offered jack to do Iron Man 2 and ultimately stopped his involvement in the creative process of future films due to how Marvel Studios treated him in those negotiations. Patty Jenkins bailed on Thor 2 because the Marvel offer was terrible; Branagh wanted no part of that movie after how unhappy he was during the production of Thor. And so on...

Their biggest role was basically as script doctors; they supervised an in-house writing team that basically took the "official" writers' first drafts and then revised them, often to add in additional continuity bits and ensuring a consistent tone across all the movies. They did the rewrite of Ant-Man that ultimately led Edgar Wright to abandon the project; there were a bucketload of rewrites on Thor; Alan Taylor reportedly had minimal involvement in the re-shoots on Thor 2; James Gunn was heavily rewritten on Guardians of the Galaxy; et cetera.
