Marvel planning Guardians of the Galaxy movie!

I'd be astonished if they don't further develop the design. Just from a technical POV he was only on screen for a second or three, so the character model couldn't have been up to the same standards as something you'd expect to carry most of a movie like say Rocket and Groot.

Looks like another one during NBA Finals. I'm starting to think this movie is going to be a major hit or major disappointment. I think it's getting too much push to fall in between.

Very cool. The first one that really seems to get a feel of the whole storyline (I've had to do doubletime to learn anything about the Guardians and Star Lord, but I really enjoyed the hint of the version of Star Lord's origin we're going with). It's also the first time I heard Groot speak, so that was cool.

It is clear that some of the trailer catch phrases are clearly made for the trailer, though. I'm not sure which version of "a thief, a murderer, two thugs, and a maniac" will appear in the movie, but I'm doubtful that both would (the line previously was "these criminals").

That actually looked decent compared to the previous trailers. I feel some interest now.

And Avengers Assemble? Is that what the Avengers movies was called overseas?

As much as I've enjoyed the 70's music, which in fairness has it's purpose for Quill, I'm glad to see a more straightforward trailer.

This reveals a bit about Peter, how the GotG are a last line of defense and not necessarily a first one.

Good humor but it's not overshadowing so the prior trailers are balanced out with this more serious toned trailer.

Just in the UK, I think, to avoid confusion with the 1960s show "The Avengers". (or the Uma Thurman/Ralph Fiennes movie version from the 90s)
That makes sense. Back in the 60s, I started watching The Avengers because I saw it in the TV book and thought it was "my" Avengers (good thing, too, because it turned into one of my favorite shows).

Poor The Incredible Hulk :(.
Indeed. They seem to have disowned it.

Not really, they've made mention to it a few times. It's just not highly referenced at this point.

Avengers, Banner: "Last time I was in NY I kinda destroyed Harlem"

Avengers, Banner: "I got low, I put a gun in my mouth and the Other guy spent it back out" (reference to a deleted scene actually but it's on the DVD)

AoS: Reference to Blonsky being in the "Fridge"

You know the more I see of this, the more I feel like this is essentially Farscape the movie. The humour, the irreverent tone, the pop culture references, the ship of misfits and the lone human as the fish-out-of-water...I mean if you turn your head and squint Quill kinda-sorta looks like Crichton... :D

As for the trailer: personally though, I prefer the other trailers. The late 60's/early 70's pop music gave it some character. This just feels like every overwrought, dramatic, summer tent-pole trailer you've ever seen. I mean the only thing it was missing was Lux Aeterna. Blech!

Oh and the smug egotist in me is pleased that I called it correctly that he'd left Earth as a child. Yeah, because that was such an insightful leap of logic! ;)

Incidentally, does anyone think there may be a link between Quill and Skye? Maybe the same ship that (for whatever reason) picked him up also dropped of her "parents"? Maybe they switched him for her for some bizarre reason? Or maybe the "guest" was killed in whatever incident ended with Quill being taken? Could be a coincidence, but it seems like the timing seems just about right for there to be some kind of connection.

I kind of doubt that Quill hails from the Hunan Province.

They haven't disowned it continuity-wise, but they've certainly disowned it promotion-wise. It's the Jimmy Carter of MCU films.
