People really do get torn up over the stupidest things. People want him fired for some off-color language comedy on his site from last year? Weird.
 
I don't like what he says on there in a lot of the entries, but I don't see why he would need to be fired from GotG. Just because I don't like what he says doesn't mean he doesn't make good movies. It's not like he's Roman Polanski or anything. He just doesn't seem like a person I'd want to hang out with.
I actually didn't notice where it said the poll was that old, it does make the whole thing even more of an over reaction.
 
That poll was just James Gunn being James Gunn. There was nothing particularly shocking in there to anyone familiar with (public) persona or his work. I can only assume Marvel knew who the guy they were hiring was.
 
Gunn issues an apology...

A couple of years ago I wrote a blog that was meant to be satirical and funny. In rereading it over the past day I don’t think it’s funny. The attempted humor in the blog does not represent my actual feelings. However, I can see where statements were poorly worded and offensive to many. I’m sorry and regret making them at all.

People who are familiar with me as evidenced by my Facebook page and other mediums know that I’m an outspoken proponent for the rights of the gay and lesbian community, women and anyone who feels disenfranchised, and it kills me that some other outsider like myself, despite his or her gender or sexuality, might feel hurt or attacked by something I said. We’re all in the same camp, and I want to do my best to make this world a better place for all of us. I’m learning all the time. I promise to be more careful with my words in the future. And I will do my best to be funnier as well. Much love to all.

That didn't take too long at least.

I marvel at the default position nowadays that any perceived wrongdoing must be apologized for publicly. Without it, the people complaining wouldn't know when to move on to the next shockingly offensive situation. :)
 
I have to admit, this was my first exposure to Gunn, but after hearing more abut him I do think all of this (including my original post) has been a major over reaction.

Well, as long as you weren't judging his whole character based on a single blog entry submitted 2 years ago...
 
Chris Pratt---the guy that when I saw Zero Dark Thirty was puzzled cause all I knew he from was Parks and Rec(I show I don't like). I thought, how'd he get this role? Still in ZD30 he was not a bumbling idiot like my P&R experience had indicated.

I can't say I'm sold on the casting so I wait to be impressed and trust they've chosen well.
 
Well, it's been a good week for the Abbott kids with Marvel Studios.

I wonder what other roles in the MU we can fill with the cast of Everwood?
