Marvel/Netflix Daredevil season 2.

I figured, with actual production of season 2 underway, might as well start a new thread, right??


So, production has started, and although it's a simple scene, first bts shots are online.

With characters like Electra and Punisher, two very violent charactes, this season should not be wanting in terms of big fights. With Fisk in prison, Vanessa gone and Ulrich dead, some of the bigger characters from last season might not be around. I do hope Fisk will remain locked up for at least have the season, and that Vanessa will also remain away for a few episodes. It would be a shame if they conveniently be back together and plotting in the first episode.

I just want to see more scenes of DD in the actual costume, and see the costume actually serving a purpose, protecting him from harm. The last episode or two of the first season put all this work into showing that he needed a better costume for protection, then giving him a costume with fancy high-tech body armor built into it, and then not having the costume really serve much purpose the one time it was used.

Also maybe give him his grappling hook/billy club -- though now that I think about it (reflecting on the Mythbusters episode where they built a superhero grappling gun), it'd be very difficult to put a functional grappling line and winch into such a compact device. So that might stretch credibility too much. Unless it's, like, a gift from Tony Stark or something. I'm sure he could come up with a sufficiently miniaturized winch motor and superthin, superstrong cable.

And I don't want the Punisher to be played as one of the good guys. Daredevil is the first Marvel Cinematic Universe character to have a firm code against killing, and I want to see him stick to that and take a firm stand against Castle's methods. I gather that Punisher is usually treated as an antagonist in DD comics, and I hope the show sticks to that.

But please--no cookie-cutter Elektra and Punisher. Make their stories compelling and complicated.

More DD in costume is almost assured. They spent the whole first season building to that. I'd like them to add the double "D" to the suit though.

Punisher casting seems excellent as well as does Elektra. Curious how and to what extent both will serve the story. Are both here as part of the void left by Wilson Fisk in different capacities? How will we see Fisk evolve as the Kingpin while behind bars?

While the red is her standard she has been portrayed in both a white & black version of her attire. So any adaption of either of the three color schemes works. Black seems cliche but they may go with it, after all Matt wore that black training version the whole season. Maybe a similar path for Elektra. She starts in black then goes to red? A muted red but still, red.

As for Elektra and Punisher, I have the strong feeling that this version will be far more detailed, more tortured and introspective, who do not spend a lot of time running around in costume.

Costume design is difficult, and I think it depends on what background they give Elektra and what point in time her story is at. I mean, look at Nobu's ninja garb.

I don't know the Daredevil world or characters like Elektra or Punisher characters that well, but I enjoyed the heck out of the first season and just hope the new showrunner can do as good a job as the previous one did.

Although I gotta say I was not feeling the final red costume at all, and would love to see that improved somehow. It just seems way too over-designed and doesn't seem to fit the gritty and grounded world of the series nearly as well as the black costume did.

Well, it'll never fit as well. It's a superhero costume. It fits in a superhero world. I do think they'll improve the costume, though.

I know Melvin mentions that it was not finished before he gave it to Matt so I've always assumed that it was just a prototype and not the final product.

That was my impression too. Despite the complaints regarding the costume, I saw it as kind of a work in progress towards more like the comic, to a certain degree.

Not sure how close they will get, but given how secretive they were with the first costume reveal, I can imagine it will be something is being modified by Matt constantly.

I don't know if I would consider this an improvement or not. I'll have to see it in action first.

It looks like the costume includes a more complicated billy club, perhaps with the same multiple functions as the comics version (i.e. club, grappling hook, etc.). If so, that's good.

Bit of an Emperor's New Clothes going on, so I'll try and stop it before more people comment. They updated the article to reflect that it's a shot from season one, not season two, so it isn't a new costume at all.

We never really got a good look at the costume anyway--what's more it was pretty obvious that this was a first attempt. Some changes to the costume would be fine I think.

It looks to me like they just got rid of the most of the black and changed the helmet.
