Marvel Comics Dark Reign: The Future?

Well, I still have to think that somehow it all ties back to the whole OMD storyline. Osborne was the one who made the deal with Mephisto and is not only systematically destroying Spider-Man's life, but also the lives of ALL the true heroes. Maybe he realizes that even if he were to kill Spider-Man, someone else would take up the mask. Or the other heroes would be against him and he'd still know no real peace. So his goal is to make sure that the heroes are all discredited, hated and usesless, so when he does finally kill Spider-Man, no one will try and avenge him, because "he's better off dead and forgotten."

Of course... deals with the devil always have a way of backfiring. ;)

What I would love love LOVE to happen, the whole deal goes sour and its MARY JANE who pulls a gun on Norman and has the FBI behind her.

"Face it, you lost the jackpot... Tiger."

^ I was actually having similar thoughts about Osborn and Mephisto. It would also explain how Harry Osborn somehow is alive again without any explanation.

Awhile ago someone here said that it looks like they're setting up a big Mephisto crossover in the future, starting with OMD. Has anything happened since then to bear this out or deny it? Has Mephisto appeared anywhere since OMD? Personally I never really cared for the magic/supernatural aspect of comics...

I think that Mephisto used Peter's wish to alter all of reality to make it better for the bad guys, or that maybe Mephisto gained extra power from Peter's actions that has essentially altered reality to swing more in favor of evil than good.

^ This is a theory that I'm on board for. Either way, Mephisto is behind this Dark Reign. I also like the theory of Norman making a deal with Mephisto as well. Harry has recently turned his back on his father again (the conclusion of the American Son storyline) so this part of the deal if there even was one has backfired. I think Norman is going to loose it and Peter is going to be the cause. Every time Norman sees Spider-Man or mentions him he seems to loose it...a little.

^I loved it when Franklin Richards confronted Osborn wearing a Spider-Man mask. :guffaw:

Hmm...Little Frankie has altered reality and kicked Mephisto's ass, and once frightened the Venom symbiote.

Hell, maybe Mephisto could be made responsible for such bits of genius as College-Age Julie Power and Jack Russell's 18-year old niece.

One rather doubts Mephisto has anything to do with Dark Reign (among other things, it would imply that Marvel has any plans to get rid of the current Spider-Man status quo, when it's been the editors' decades-long dream).

The only GOOD ending for this story would be for Jean Grey-Summers to wake up and say to herself "What a nightmare..." as Scott comes out of their bathroom having just showered.

The only reason I'd even think about Mephisto is that a megaXover involving him is the only step down left for the heroes. Of course, this might make Mister Parker think he's responsible for the whole mess, and ten years of that angst we don't need. As for DD1's good ending, seconded, and I'll add "The Parkers, staying next door, asked the Summers if anything was wrong. Their little daughter May then asked for ice cream for breakfast."
