Martia's Death in TUC SE

According to IMDb, the following is one of the changes implemented in the Special Collector's Edition DVD of TUC: When Martia gets shot, a disruption sound effect is removed to make her scream more apparent. Now, I have all three DVD versions, and I can't really hear the difference in the disruption effect, even with headphones. The SCE DVD disruptor effect sounds identical to the 2009 DVD of the theatrical cut.

In the old non-anamorphic DVD of the home video version, the disruptor effect sounds louder, but it doesn't sound qualitatively different. I think the disruptor effect in the later DVDs is just lower in the audio mix. What do you guys think?

There is also apparently extra dialog for Spock in the top brass meeting in the home video version, but I cannot seem to spot this. What has been added from the theatrical version? Is IMDb wrong?

I know about the other differences, such as Operation Retrieve, but these two changes cited by IMDb have puzzled me for a while. I would appreciate any help.

Given that IMDB content is user-submitted, I'd say it's about as reliable as Wikipedia information that lacks a citation.

I agree, but the other information is accurate, so I am still curious about this issue. My hearing is not very good, so I am just wondering if other people can hear something I cannot.

It might not be a special edition thing, but a new sound mix thing. I remember someone had an entire web page suggesting major boycottage because the Star Trek III SE DVD used a slightly different sound effect for warp speed in the 5.1 mix than the original had. And, yes, I had sort of noticed it was off, and didn't sound as good as it used to, but that's a little far.

I know that. In fact, I've contributed to IMDb myself. I was responding to the previous comment by saying that the fact that IMDb can be openly edited is not enough for me to dismiss the aforementioned statement out of hand, and that I was, and am, still curious about the matter.

@David cgc, yes; I think it is probably a difference in the audio mix. I didn't know that about III. I'll have a listen next time. Thanks for your info!

I've always wondered, how did the Klingon know which Kirk was actually Martia? I'm sure I just missed something. Also, since she was still under the impression they were only gunning for Kirk, why didn't she shape-shift back into herself really quickly?

She did say that it took a lot of effort. And she was probably hoping for the possibility that the Klingon would kill the real Kirk.

He didn't. He just wanted to stop the "two Kirks" bickering.

Actually, he did. Kirk was the only one with chains still on his feet. He just got confused for a second when the fake started pointing fingers. Plus if he didn't care which one he killed, he wouldn't have gone on saying "No witnesses" to the person he knew was Kirk.

I remember when I first saw that in the theatre, and you can clearly see the 'line in the middle' between either Kirk's....

I've heard that theory before and I still don't buy it. Her woman form is the same height as Kirk, and she's only a little girl for a brief moment. And the rest of the time she's actually considerably taller than him.

I always thought that he knew it was Kirk 'cause he called him 'idiot', something he knew Martia would never do.
