Martha Kent Returns to Smallville

EW:
Martha Kent is winging it back to Smallville, and word is it’s not to dispense motherly advice.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Annette O’Toole has inked a deal to reprise her role as Clark’s mom later this season.

Now they just need to sign her husband to make a return appearance as Perry White...

Is this show still on?!

32 still can't fly or wear the getup... he'll be on medicare by the time he gets the cape on... (I know, old argument but still valid.)

Welling may be 32, but Clark is only 24 or 25.

I can agree that this is still somewhat awkward, didn't Clark develop his powers in his teens? It'd be a little more believable if he hadn't had all of his other powers for several seasons now. Either way though, I still like the show and am interested in her return.

At one point it was said he wouldn't get the ability to fly until he completed his training with Jor-El, which I now think he has done. Now Clark has to get over his own fear of flying/heights and just learn to fly. I agree, though, it's high-time he did it.

I admit I haven't watched the show since Season 3, but I thought she died at some point.

Johnathon Kent died in Season 5, Martha Kent never died but took over his job as a Senator (?) for Kansas and is living in Washington D.C. fulfilling those duties.

Thank God! I miss her on the show.

Bloody hell, good Smallville news! Will wonders ever cease ?

Smallville is a massive rarity - a show where the teenage (yeah, right) lead character actually gets on with his parents.

Of all Smallville seasons, s02 is the one I never got around to watching. Having started recently, I'm amazed at how good it is compared to more recent fare!

What is going to rock her relationship with Clark? Perhaps she is going to get remarried now, 4 years after Jonathan died? Or some kind of Senate scandal that takes her off the pedestal Clark has her on (she should be due for reelection soon after all)? Maybe something to do with her well-connected lawyer father / Clark's grandfather last seen in season 2 (I think)?

Whatever it is, news of her return is welcome news. Too few original cast members on this show as it is.

I saw this on Mania this afternoon...I had a haunch they would try and get Annette back on the show for an episode. The Ausiello thing also mentioned we can expect a couple more unexpected surprises? Anyone want to speculate what he's referring to? The most obvious unexpected surprise would be Michael's return but that might be to obvious.
