Martain Manhunter' spin off to replace 'Smallville?

Or are people still skittish about a black man as an intelligent lead character in a superhero series? Do we still want another dumbass Blade-type series?

We just elected a black man as President of the United States, so I don't think it's a dealbreaker when it comes to a TV-show lead.

I think it's high time we had another hourlong SF/fantasy drama with an African-American lead. I think there have been five previous such shows: Deep Space Nine (Avery Brooks), Sliders' final season (Cleavant Derricks), Mercy Point (Joe Morton), Day Break (Taye Diggs), and the aforementioned Blade: The Series (I don't know who). If this show happens, and if the rumors about casting for the next Doctor Who are correct, we'll have two more.

I doubt this show would ever come to fruition but if it did, I would definitely be there. Phil Morris is part of the reasons 'Labyrinth' is one of my favourite Smallville episodes, and his appearances since then have all been fantastic. Partner him and Chloe up and it would be a done deal.

I'm just waiting for someone to make a show based on Gotham Central. All they need to do is tell the execs it has a hot Hispanic lesbian and they'd be sold in a nanosecond.

There was M.A.N.T.I.S. years ago. It died because people didn't want to be bothered typing all those periods when discussing the show.:)

^^Dang, I knew I forgot one!! And M.A.N.T.I.S. is one of the ones I usually remember! (Mercy Point and Blade are the ones I usually forget.) And it's particularly embarrassing that I forgot M.A.N.T.I.S. in this discussion, because it starred Carl Lumbly, who did the voice of J'onn J'onnz in Justice League!

No, that was Joe Morton, who was on Smallville, but as Dr. Steven Hamilton. For genre fans, he's probably best known as Miles Dyson in Terminator 2.

Ah yes...it's been years since I saw that old film...Joe Morton is also a regular on the show Eureka. Henry is a great character. :)
