Marla McGivers as a Traitor...

[

You also make a point about the actress. I remember reading the reason McGivers was killed off-screen for TWoK was partially because she had MS by then. I wonder if given the opportunity she'd have handled her second showing as well as Montalban? Has anyone seen the actress (Madlyn Rhue) in anything else?

As I recall, she had a recurring role on MURDER SHE WROTE . . . .

It's perhaps worth noting that Marla seemed to be a bit of an outsider even before they found Khan. Kirk can't even remember her name at the beginning of the episode . . . .

That's no excuse for betraying the Enterprise, of course, but it does suggest that she wasn't really fitting in aboard the ship, and perhaps in Starfleet.

She did seem a bit irked when called away from her art in order to do her job. She sighed very heavily, I thought.

Her job did definitely seem to bore her.

Ironically, I saw the actress on an episode of 'It Takes a Thief' over the weekend. She was pretty good. She was some kind of black widow.
