Mark Lenard dubbed in TMP

I was watching The Motion Picture on 4K and during the Klingon attack at the beginning of the film, I noticed that the lips of the actors weren't in synch with the words. But later on everythings in sych again.

After a bit of internet sleuthing, I found out that James Doohan dubbed the lines of the Klingon actors, who were originally speaking English. So, my question is, what words were they saying in English originally? Is it the subtitled text, or something else?

Also, was the whole film looped? I guess they've done something with the 4K, because the sound mix is phenomenal compared to my old DVD DE. The lip movements match perfectly.

Certainly the bridge scenes were, because the film projectors playing the "video" display loops on the consoles were noisy. And quite a lot of the film took place on the bridge. But I don't think it was the whole film.

They did reloop a lot of the dialog for the 4K release after they found dialog tracks with different takes that sounded better. I always wanted to know if the one or two new lines of Chekov dialog to replace the original computer alarm was from the 1979 sessions, or did they have Koenig come in and do them? Or find someone who sounded like him? Might have just been one "intruder alert" but I'm not sure.

I know Doohan did a lot of voice work for TAS. But I'm not sure TrekMovie is right on this one.

I always read (multiple sources) that it was Lenard speaking words Doohan made up. Then Okrand developed grammar and syntax based on those sounds for SFS.

Yeah, it sounds to me like TrekMovie mistook "Doohan wrote the Klingon dialogue" for "Doohan dubbed the Klingon dialogue." Probably confusing it with the Kolinahr scene, which was recorded in English and redubbed with "Vulcan" lines written to match the lip sync (with the dialogue rephrased in subtitles to make it a little less obvious).

The same thing was done in WoK when Spock and Saavik are talking about Kirk: They spoke English, which was then dubbed in Vulcan (Okrand's first Trek contribution)

They were.

As for TMP, that was definitely Lenard speaking. You can tell it's his voice. It's definitely him.
