She's led a long interesting life, that's for sure. I think my parents met her in Vermont several decades ago.

Maria Agatha Franziska Gobertina von Trapp (the second daughter, "Louisa" in the film, played by a young Heather Menzies) died last week. Maria Augusta von Trapp (the stepmother, played by Julie Andrews in the film) died in 1987, at age 82.

Yeah, the article was confusing about that.
Actually, the article wasn't so confusing; it did explicitly state which Maria died when. Rather, the title of this thread, and the first three messages thereof, were the part that screamed for clarification.
