March Madness Discussion

It looks my school (UNM Lobos) won't be a heading to the tourney. Looked good for a while there, but it doesn't look like it anymore! :p

Looks like there's no juice in the tank for the Orangemen. But man how they've given us an incredible run so far in the post-season!!

I noticed nobody started a Tournament Pick'em.

So I did!

Thanks, Adm. Bonz. I was stunned to see that nobody had set one up before you did. My interest in college hoops has collapsed much like my interest in the NBA. I haven't cared much at all about the conference tourneys, and once the first two rounds and possible upsets are over, my tourney watching will probably be sporadic. I thought my grandfather was crazy when he just watched the last two minutes of games, but now I'm becoming him.

Holy smokes, Ohio St. beat Michigan St. and looked very good doing it.

I'm trying to figure out if that's a fluke or not. That's a pretty brutal loss for the Spartans who are supposed to be top in the Big 10.

^Northwestern and PSU both beat MSU at the Breslin Center during the regular season.

THe Buckeyes were a difficult team to figure out this year. A largely young team, it lost its most experienced and important player, David Lighty, just a few games into the season. He was the leader, the veritable "coach on the floor" and without him it's been very up-and-down". It really is hard to predict which team will show up from game to game.

Yeah, its taken me all year to get into it, but after this week, its all good.
Still can't watch the NBA until the playoffs, though.

I'm watching Tennessee try to lose the SEC championship right now. Miss State looks tired, but they're still in it. Lots of weird plays by both teams in the final 10 seconds here.

Tough year for the SEC. Looks like only 2 teams will make the dance.:(

I want the last two and a half hours of my life back. That SEC championship game was bullshit... and I'm not just saying that 'cause my team lost. Obviously, I wouldn't be saying it at all if they had won, but I think Tennessee got the short end today. The officiating crew and the timekeeper all need to have their eyes examined. The referees, in those final nine seconds in particular, made some pretty questionable calls against BOTH Tennessee and Mississippi State. And the timekeeper... my god.... how many times must he have fallen asleep?! It seemed like the referees were having to stop and reset the clock after every single play there towards the end! Oh, well. it's not as if the Vols got locked out of the NCAA tournament because of this. Still... :scream:

How do you figure that, and who do you mean besides the Bulldogs? I was under the impression that the Vols were in, regardless, and that they were really only fighting for two things today: NCAA Tournament bracket positioning and bragging rights.

Well, I wrote that before the Vols lost. But at that time it was LSU and Tenn. Now, Miss State is going too!

The hype is getting to me, so I decided to join after all. Probably won't win, and will still root for the upsets but you never know. ;)

Hold the phone, here.... Louisville is the overall #1 seed? LOUISVILLE?! How'd that happen? I know they're good this year, but wow....

....and the rumors were true. 3 of the 4 #1 seeds came from the Big East Conference. That's gotta be some kind of record-setter.

So, Tennessee gets the 9th seed in the same bracket with #1 seed Pittsburgh. A 9th seed, huh? Just shows what happens when you don't win your conference tournament, despite sharing the reg. season championship. I think Rodney Dangerfield said it best.....

Well, fuck that. Penn State has their best record in school history and gets snubbed. That just killed my interest in this tourney.
