Manual Labour-intensive job - what to eat?

What's his face

Hi folks.
I started my first day of the summer job. This year it's for a landscaping company. I've done manual labour before, but it's not my prime thing. It usually takes weeks for me to get the strength to be able to do everything without dying or aching by the end of the day.

What should I pack in a lunch to maintain the proper balance of nutrition while taking into account I'll be burning about 535,000,000 calories a day? I suspect protein is a must. I remember last summer when I was a labourer for a construction company I always had large meat servings for dinner because I craved protein.

Depending on your age...eat everything! If you're a tad older, like me (350 then try to keep it clean (since we're in a health and fitness section). Eat some potatoes.

Try to avoid too many "empty calories" (junk food like chips and snack cakes, carbonated drinks) but if you're young, good portions of meat, veggies and fruit, along with carbs (whole grain pasta with meat sauce--hearty sandwiches with whole grain bread, good quality cold cuts and veggies). Couple of steaks a week.

(I did construction jobs in summers when I was a student and that's what got me through it)
