Manny Coto RIP

Only just noticed this thread, if I end up being banned for reviving it then so be it.

A real shame on every level. From a Trek point of view I'm not sure he'll be remembered as much as I think he should be. He wasn't involved in Enterprise for long, which is one reason for him maybe not being remembered (the other being that Enterprise isn't a well remembered as it should be), but I think what he achieved was very impressive and what he had planned for season 5 and beyond could've cemented a really memorable legacy.

But, those in the know, won't forget Manny Coto. RIP Sir.
I think he'll always be remembered as the guy who was brought in last minute to try and course correct the show into something it hadn't been the three seasons prior to that. And considering how many people regularly cite season four as their favorite season of Enterprise and the moment the show “got really good”, I feel confident in saying that he'll always be remembered for that. At least by fans of the show he will.

I remember that when he took over in the final season much was made of the fact that he was apparently a huge TOS buff and a certain portion of fandom was eager to see him transform the show into the prequel they always wanted. But you know, I feel like his biggest accomplishment as the head writer was that he brought back a big portion of FUN to the show. And I say that as someone who will always consider the third season his favorite. The kind of stories he produced for season four were just so colorful and joyous. That's what I will always remember Manny Coto for.

Yeah, sorry I'm late to the party, but I must express my condolences over Manny Cotto's tragic, untimely passing. While Enterprise is one of the "new" Trek shows, it's sobering that two key people involved are now already dead.

And fuck cancer, that insufferable bully and thief (it struck down TNG writers Michael Pillar and Michael Wagner far too soon as well).
