Man Vs Food

Honestly, I have to say Brown has become a little too full (pardon the pun) of himself lately.

Which is sad because GE remains one of my all-time favorite programs, food related or otherwise, and I used to really like him.

Lately, Alton appears to be both unhappy and unfulfilled which is a shitty place to be. He has to be one of the most dour TV personality around.

Man v Food is lightweight fun but I hate it when they have absurd challenges that aren't even remotely possible. Adam is a decent eater and if he can't even dent the food presented you know it's a bit much.

Agreed about Alton.. He has kind of become the go-to host of the Food Network, and since GE has ended, he doesn't get to do much in the way of cooking..

I think a lot of his feeling (which I don't necessarily disagree with entirely) comes from the two seasons he spent "on the road" doing his cross country show.. He obviously got very heavy while doing that, and has since worked very hard to dump the weight (to the point he looks unhealthy, IMHO)..

I really like M v. F, but I have to admit some of those challenges are disgusting..

We have a hotdog place down the street with a Volcano Dog Challenge.. It's a footlong frank (a very thick dog, btw), covered with chili (not at thick at texas chili and no beans) that has ground beef and ghost chile extract. For those not in the know, ghost chile is just about the hottest you can get. Topped with cheese and served with fries, the whole thing has be be gone in 10 minutes and you have to wait an additional 10 before you can have anything to drink.

I've sampled the chili and it's HOT, but not impossible... I'm 30 lbs away from making my 50 lbs goal... My reward for getting to 50, will be doing the challenge.. Only 6 have done it successfully so far.

Well, he hates what Food Network has become, filled with shitty programming like Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Sandra Lee being a functional alcoholic, the latest whoring out of Bobby Flay, etc., but ever since Scripps bought the Travel Channel, he doesn't really have anywhere else to go, so he re-upped for three years back in March.

I do know that one of the provisions in his deal said that he was to be allowed to create an entirely new series free of network influence, and I believe he starts shooting it around the start of the new year, so I'm interested in seeing what he does.

Triple D is the reason I started watching the network in the first place. I became a fan of many other shows due to first watching Triple D.

The concept of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, which is to say highlighting local eateries, is great, but Guy Fieri is such an unrelenting, intolerable douchebag that seeing him makes me want to shoot my television.

Haven't seen either M-v-F or Triple D for a while, but if I catch one, I will usually end up watching. Light and entertaining.

Guy's lame jokes and constant mentioning of ingredients in recipes are incredibly annoying. I wouldn't go as far as to call him a douche bag though.

When I think of Food Network's biggest abominations, Triple D, Lee, and Flay hardly make the list. :wtf:

Agreed, Clegg. There has been far worse on FN... Thankfully, it's gone.

ETA: Food Network was great for me yesterday when I was in the hospital. I had my appendix out and needed something relaxing to watch and yesterday's shows were about Thanksgiving foods. I'm just glad I can watch and don't have to cook anything this year. My sister-in-law had already offered to do dinner before my appendix went.
