Man, I love the AV Club

Who else could - and take the time so that I would - actually make me laugh at a Limp Bizkit article?

Excerpt:
“Basically, Limp is not an amphitheatre band,” Fred Durst, always the most visionary of Bizkits, mused in between aphorisms on his Twitter feed. “We like to see less seats in front of the stage and more floor filled with fans going bananas. It's just more fun for all of us that way. Some bands are meant to be seen mainly sitting down, but definitely not Limp Bizkit.”

He elaborated further on the band’s official website, saying they hoped to find venues that would allow for more “jumping, dancing, and moshing directly in front of the stage, instead of on a grassy knoll a hundred yards away,” while adding that they also hoped to find a setup where “those of you who want to sit down during our show,” abstain from such terpsichorean delights, and simply drink in the euphonious collusion of melody and yelling about breaking stuff could be sated as well.

Whoever pays their salaries, bless them. The AV Club is a perhaps embarrassingly key part of my day.

You know, I haven't visited the Onion regular in several months, but I visit the AV Club everyday. It really is terrific.

I check the AV Club out every day too. Their TV coverage is especially good.

I picked up their Inventory book a couple months ago and it's a really good read.

That said, they're occasionally too hip for their own good. Part of their charm is that they're geeky about ridiculously obscure things. It sometimes gets obscure to the point of being impenetrable though.

^^ Yeah, some of their "Gateways to Geekery" are seriously out there and/or ridiculously specific. Not that that's a bad thing, but I can't always relate to even mild interest in the subjects, much less share them.

Love the Flops, Commentary of the Damned, I Watched This on Purpose and Now! That's What They Called Music features, though, and most of the not totally-arcane Inventories are fun. And I've been listening to and enjoying most of the A.V. Talks also. And I also love the Book vs. Film articles, and wish there were more.
