Man decapitated while testing hovercraft

It's been downgraded from 'decapitated' to 'head injuries'.

At least it's not as bad as the retraction printed in the paper that apologised for 'stolen groceries' and should have actually read 'homicide'.

Damn, even hilarious accidental deaths are getting downgraded these days. :( When will these troubled economic times let up??

"He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was later moved to a much better hospital where his condition was upgraded to alive."

good lord...

simply stupid...

What kind of home-built hovercraft kit doesn't have a duct around the propeller arc?

those ducts are there for a reason... a bit more than a hint to keep one's extremities OUT of the danger zone...

I've seen folks lose their lives in aviation...but none by sticking his head in the prop arc...

not a good way to go...

Those high torque motors can cause a propeller to start spinning incredibly fast with practically no lag. I've seen them in action on hovercraft. Usually there is supposed to be some kind of protective grating to help avoid accidental contact. Maybe the guy forgot to put it on when he built this kit... Safety is always first. Any exceptions and, well... a pity the guy had to go that way, especially in front of his family. :(

I blame Moody's and S&P for this latest unfair downgrade.

Thread topic reminds me of the scene in Phantom Menace with Jar Jar getting his hand stuck in the pod racer engine. Was there anyone watching who wasn't hoping Anakin would just flip the switch?
