Makes You Cry

Mistral

Vice Admiral
Admiral
There are certain movies, books, and songs that just get me with the schmaltz. I can't help myself, I either cry outright or feel like I should be crying. what hits you like that from the media world?

MOVIES

Pretty Woman-It's just too much when he climbs the balcony. It's the best.

Armageddon-they went for sappy and they got it-and I cry every time Harry talks to Gracie the last time.

Books

Time Enough For Love by Robert Heinlein

Dora's Story racks me up.

SONGS

Seventeen by Janice Ian

Too powerful for words

What does it for you?

Books: David Copperfield

Movies: Saving Private Ryan
Bridge to Terabithia

Songs: He Stopped Loning Her Today
Into The West

If anyone has ever watched The Real Ghostbusters episode, "Slimer, Come Home", and didn't cry, you have no heart.

Do I need to mention the dog in Futurama? Thought not.

It's a very funny movie, but I always tear up at the end of Still Crazy when our heroes overcome all obstacles and it falls into place on the night. Just wonderful.

And since my mother passed away, the songs 'Perect Day' by Miriam Stockly (best known as the Beatrix Potter theme) and 'Into The West' from LOTR have special significance.

When Obi-Wan Kenobi is killed by Darth Vader in the original Star Wars (but only after the prequels came out). He was the best character in the prequels.

Oh theres so much that makes me cry! Mostly TV and movies! I'm kind of a sucker for a good sad story.

I cry my eyes out at Marley and Me! And Up always reduces me to tears.

There are several episodes of MASH which I have cried during, most notably Abyssinia, Henry.

Ooh.

The end of TWOK, Jurassic Bark, Casino Royale, Farscape's season 2 finale (these two for the same reason), the future vision of Arwen after Aragorn's death in The Two Towers, House Of Flying Daggers...

Into The West for exactly the same reason as Australis above, along with Abide With Me. The Old Rugged Cross (my gran's name was Cross so we had that at her funeral.) This means the Dr Who episode Gridlock is a complete no-no for me unless I've got my thumb on the mute button...

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (movie) - When Harry returns from the graveyard with Cedric's body. Just such raw grief.

Tiny Dancer by Elton John ever since seeing Almost Famous.

Funny enough, the end episode of Magnum P.I. where he dies in what was going to be the series finally.

When Aragorn says "My friends, you bow before no one" right through to the credits of Return of the King.

Oh, the "We'll be together" number from Grease. In a fond good old days of high school sort of way.

there are more, but these are the only ones that come to mind at the moment.

Not much or a crier, but two movies off the top of my head are Field of Dreams and Up

Field of Dreams: The last scene always gets me.

Up: Pretty much the entire movie. :wah:My girlfriend thought it was sweet.

The reentry sequence in Apollo 13 gets me. For whatever reason so does the launch and preceding scenes in Armageddon. Juror #3's breakdown (Lee J Cobb / George Scott) in 12 Angry Men gets me too.

I cry alot during movies and TV.I have no idea why. I sometimes cry over commercials. Most recent example was this morning I was watching something, don't remember what I think Buffy maybe, and it somehow impacted the rest of the show and I just felt this enormous nostalgic feeling and just cried my eyes out.

I get emotional and cry during certain movies and television shows that I have an invested interested in. Like for example, I cried several times through Return of the King and the Extended Edition, in fact most of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I cried during Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. I cried during the introduction of Optimus Prime and the Autobots in the first Transformers movie and I even teared up in the second movie (as awful as it was in two occasions) the first when Optimus is "killed" by Megatron and when Sam is trying to tell his dad to go with Bumblebee.

Star Trek I cried when Spock Prime first shows up in the cave and says "I shall be, and always will be your friend." got me good!

Lots of things; I'm a soft touch. Remember that Three's Company where Jack used Roper's money to buy back Janet's cameo? Yup.... :rommie:
