Make it "Blade Runner 2"..a sequel!

Well, too early to say. At least the film is set around twenty years after Blade Runner, which avoids the awkward problem of Blade Runner's projected future colliding with our present (any idea of a prequel film would have to take into account Blade Runner was set in 2019, and it's currently 2012 - at most such a film would be a few years ahead of the date of release).

I do like Blade Runner, though, and cyberpunk films in general, and also Ridley Scott (to a point, and... not to the level of actually sitting down and watching say Robin Hood) so... cautious optimism, why not?

(Goes without saying that the film will probably have less to do with Philip K. Dick then the original movie. I wouldn't expect occurrences of Mercerism or Buster Friendly or the other stuff the first movie cut.)

It's too much to hope that Scott and Fancher would do for BR2 what was planned for the Total Recall sequel -- take another PKD story and adapt that with the characters and in the setting. (The Total Recall sequel was based on "Minority Report," but then it ended up becoming a standalone movie with the Total Recall elements stripped.) I could see the Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch as a Blade Runner sequel. I hope the movie will be more than just another Replicant hunt. :)

Well, the new film is going to have a female protagonist. No Philip K. Dick novels with female protagonists come immediately to mind as being suitable for a Blade Runner film (The Transmigration of Timothy Archer is just not the right book, as much as it would be a great movie in its own right)... and while it's possible they've just changed the gender of a protagonist of something else, I personally don't think it's likely they'll adapt more PKD stuff.

I like their suggestion of Rooney Mara. If the female lead is going to be Rachel, here's an oddball idea: Krysten Ritter. Of course they'll never cast a TV comedienne in a big-budget movie.

If we're lucky, we'll get Jennifer Lawrence. If we're unlucky - Kristen Stewart.

We've already had a Blade Runner sequel. It's called nuBSG.

That's one way to do a sequel. I'm happy to see more iterations.

Speaking of EJO, it's required that he be in this movie!

I think she could play a future euroasian female. It could play up on Ridley's idea that Japan and America will blend styles like in "Blade Runner"
